a mid winter's walk

well, 70 in the shade... not so great a snowy winter, so some hiking and such.

found a birch tree that had rotted some, and fallen on top of another perfectly good sapling, so, out comes the handy dandy used fallkniven f1 i scored recently (yay) so cut the birch tree in half. yes, in half. to save the sapling you see.

and some more walking... i had a ribbon with me to give to my woodsie friend:

follow this stream to find raccoon prints, clay beds, water creatures, crayfish, and a myriad of other wonders.

the head of yet another stream area, this was a beaver marsh, and off to the right, a very large lodge, now mostly rotted out. i managed to secure about 4-5 "hiking pole" size/quality saplings that were peeled by beaveroids, probably red birch or poplar. teeth marves and grooves and well seasoned too
