My Buck, dog and shotgun went out this morning for some winter exercise. It was a chilly, blowing day and the birds didn't want to fly but we managed to get a mixed bag. Both Dove and Quail are in season here this month. That's my 112 Paper stone model with the drop point S30V blade. Our Collector's board did a good job bringing us this one. It performed well on these Gambel right up on par with my dog. Merry Christmas to one and all, to my Great friends here. DM

Good morning Dave, thanks for sharing. Took me awhile to find the knife in the picture.
For having fallen asleep under a tree for 9 years, I would have expected more beard.....

Thanks Desoto.
The date changes every time we install new batteries. So, I just stopped messing with it.
IT's always good to see you guys have a sense of humor. DM

Hunter, thanks. It was. Those quail wouldn't fly until we walked by the clumps the second time. DM

David,

Will you have enough for Christmas dinner? How about snow?

Bert

Thanks, Bert. We fed the in-laws Gambel quail this past weekend. They loved it. I'm working on some for us now. Snow is not in our forecast right now. It could be after Christmas. For now just cold. We'll take every drop of moisture we can get. The 112 work well on game like this. 300Bucks uses scissors. I like a knife. What the heck... The hard part is not embarrassing myself in front of that dog... Cause she thinks I can shoot. DM

question pls, since I see your dog, I have had several hunting dogs, put down my GSHP 6 months ago. What would you guy recommend for a all function dog, meaning, jump, trail, point/sit either one and retrieve ?? Not a big dog and one that sheds hair very little ?? any such thing. thanks

David, thanks always for the great posts and photos...Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Thanks Tony. And a Happy New Year.
Thanks Liberator for your kind words. You make it fun visiting here.
Tree, my nephew had a chocolate lab or Chesapeake Bay Retriever. She was on the smaller size but a wonderful retriever and very smart.
He didn't use her for quail hunting so I don't know toward that. However, he used her a lot on retrieving ducks. I've seen them being used
pheasant hunting. Their point is on all fours with tail erect. She didn't shed much is what he told me. Which my dog does. Still, mine does
so much of what I desire her to do that I'll over look some items. Good hunting. DM

zak, thank you. Yes, we had a great time. Backing up to a nice fire felt good later as well. DM

Thanks Peter. The drop point 112 works real well on skinning coyotes and dressing small game. DM

Thank you Gedd. I hope you have a great one. I don't want our area to get hit with snow like yours did. DM

Yes that does look like a good December morning. Congrats on getting out, scratch your dog behind the ears for us, and thanks for sharing. Great backlock too!

Merry Christmas!

Thanks and will do J. I was hoping some of you guys would enjoy a bird dog photo. I've been cutting wood today and haven't had a chance to take her out. DM

Very nice David! Great picture!!

It took me a little while to find the 112 also. :)

Love NM from just south of you all the way up to the CO border. It really is the land of enchantment!!
