Sorry if this is old news. What do y'all think of Eustace Conway

I have met him twice in passing and really haven't been able to tell much about him. This Sunday he is hosting an open house at his Turtle Island Preserve here in NC and I am going up there to see the place an hopefully be able to talk with him for awhile if he has time. It seems he would be a wealth of knowledge to learn from.

Has anyone else met him or even heard of him before?

If you can, read "The Last American Man". It's a candid bio about him that shows him in all his glory and flaws.

I would love to visit Turtle Island one day soon.

That is pretty amazing that he started at such a young age. You have to give the man credit for at least following his dreams.

A "froe" is a tool meant to be battoned, Ken.... why you getting all excited?... its not like he was trying to knap with a steel striker!...... lol.

Well I was able to head up to the preserve today. It was a fun trek to get there with great scenery all around. The "driveway" was right up my alley as its about 1.5 miles long and I had to shift into 4 wheel drive in a couple of spots to keep from spinning tires going up some of the hills.

Once at the site where it was hosted I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were quite a few other folks there as well. They had demonstrations set up for fire by friction, basket weaving, blacksmithing, Tipi construction, canning, outdoor cooking, bee keeping, how to defeather fowl, wood carving using a draw knife, guided hikes with emphasis on flora and fauna, and I am sure i am leaving others out.

I had a great time there today but was unable to participate in all the festivities since my Father who went with me was tired (75 years old and just had a complete knee replacement 2 months ago) and I didn't want him to overdo it.
