A month with my first Sebenza

Just wanted to share my first Sebenza experience with everyone! I recently got engaged, and my fiance very kindly offered to get me something in exchange for her ring, so we took a trip to look at some man jewelry. Ultimately it came down to the Large 21 unique graphic vs Raindrop damascus, but the unique was too cool to pass up.

Honestly, I'd heard the many praises sung about Sebenzas - the pivot bushing, rock solid lockup, machining tolerances - but never really understood what they meant until I started using one. The blade grind is unreal, it just sings through cardboard (and anything else) and the rounded spine is a nice touch. It's a joy just to open and close, let alone use.

Now, there is one problem, which is to say about 12 other knives sitting lonely in their storage case... and more than that, I now find myself looking at the various CRK damascus offerings, and Insingo blades, and the Umnumzaan... but overall I guess it's not the worst problem to have.

Very nice UG! Yup, it's tough to not carry a CRK once you've had one. Then you start thinking of trying out a small 21, or maybe an UMM or a ti-lock... or maybe a cf insingo or mnandi. Haha

That is a nice idea to get something for your engagement.
Congrats on both accounts!

Gorgeous CRK you've got there. Yeah, that's how it starts, I've found myself in that predicament quite often. I've got more CRK's than any other brand. They're just so damn addictive.

Thanks! Yeah, it was unexpected, but I really appreciate that she understood the value of a CRK, since many people (not just women!) will balk at the price.

I'd say she's a keeper !
The knife AND the gal :)

I'm waiting for a "special" "unique" occasion to get my first Sebenza.
That occasion would be . . . when I get enough coins in one place at one time.

If you bought that at W&W it is a particular knife I admired for several years, but never quite pulled the trigger on. It's a really gorgeous and clean example of a UG. If I had seen it in person rather than that dealers sub-par photos, I would have snapped it up. Gorgeous!!!

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I can already tell it's going to be the first of hopefully not too many... it's pretty great looking at all the other CRKs on the forum, there's quite the collection of old and new blades.

I did! Living in Vancouver I've given them a lot of money over the years. Yeah, the simplicity is what drew me to the design, plus the colour gradient is really nice (and works well with the tiger's eye).
