I've been looking at this lady's work for a while on ebay... and it does look good in the pics. Bonus points for being a Schrade. Well, got one delivered to me today and it's better than it looks. I have Sante Fe Stoneworks knives to compare this one with, and besides doing both sides of the knife (vast majority of SFSW are wood on one side, the artisitc work on the other) the craftsmanship is equal or better. For having both sides done up so nicely, I think the price is comparable as well.

Ms. Yazzie really made my day with this one. I'm wondering what she could do with one of my 5" Queen toothpicks...

Doggone it! You had to post this just when I thought it was safe to take the Visa card out of the freezer.

So Phil.....

Which model did you get? A 104, or something else? I believe I have seen some jewelry she has done before...but never her knifework. It looks quite nice and reasonable as well, as you've mentioned.

We have the Yellowhorses here in Arizona, and a fellow who goes by Ghostown (KILLER Buck 110 and 112 auto conversions), and now, I find another talented knife embellisher in Ms. Yazzie.

My money is not safe. :)

Bill

EDITED:
I guess that answers my question. I must type faster.

El Lob; Where is this Ghostown guy? I have a teeny little interest in a 112auto.

Sheathmaster.....

I wish I could give you an ed- U -kated answer...but, I cannot...:o

Here is a thread that discusses his work...and sometimes Classic Guns and Knives here in AZ, has a piece or two of his work.

He is an artist...maybe, maybe, he doesn't do the conversions??...but, what can I say...he does awesome work, in my opinion, even the non autos he does.

P. S.
Paul, I don't want to hijack Phil's thread...so, email sent.

Here are a few I keep in a little display that I add to when I find a new pattern. perhapes you will enjoy the pics and variations. According to the information I have received Schrade never did a line of these in house. A shame. They are a really nice style of handlling. LT

I've seen her knives on ebay for a while now and was always afraid of the $60 price tag. Maybe it's time for a re-think...

There is a show here this weekend. But if I don't see anything there...I'm seeing a Yazzie in my future. Time to take off the rubberband. :D

Thanks Phil. ;)

Bill

Yes, Bill, the knife by Ms. Yazzie is a 104OT.

LT! Beautiful contributions. I was hoping you had something like that to show us.

All.. I didn't mean to denigrate Santa Fe stoneworks products, just gave my opinion of which fancy handled knife was a better bargain in my little old opinion. I only have two other of these pretty, Southwestern design/natural semiprecious material handled knives, shown below. The little lobster is a Camillus, a one-side wood handled thing. The Camillus CP77 is one I sent to SFKW to be customized per my directions. The handle is black jet, with mother of pearl diagonal stripes lined with silver. They did an excellent job for me, and yeah, both sides match.

Any other fancy handles?

Phil

ps... second pic is of the glass I must stomp on and break at my wedding to Rona next month. Mazel Tov!

Phil, congrats on your upcoming wedding!

From time to time, I have seen some Schrades reworked by Michael Prater of the Painted Pony design studio. I have never bought one, but have often thought about sending one of My LB7's to him to have it customized. He does a lot of Buck 110's and usually has an auto or two available. For those not familiar with his outstanding work, take a look at his web site:

Good luck next month and forever after that. Call me if you need any instruction for the wedding night. Come to think of it do not call me my wife left so I sure didn't know much. Ever think of shooting the glass it would be different and show who the boss in the family was. Take care stay well and enjoy. LT PS You could also put a shooter ( a shot of whiskey ) in the glass before you broke or shot it.

Congratulations Phil on the upcoming wedding!

She must be a sharp gal to marry you! :)

Best of Luck,
Dale
