What were they thinking? Seriously!?!

So I picked up a CS kukri machete this evening. I open up the packaging, pull it out of the sheath and there's a big sticker on the blade. No big whoop, stickers come off. This one does so, but not cleanly. Again no big whoop. I've dealt with sticker goo before. A little denatured alcohol should take it right off. And so it does, but it also takes off what ever paint it was they chose to use on the friggin blade! If they weren't cheap I think I'd be pretty mad...

point taken

At least I know it will be easy to strip the old finish off if I want to hit it with a coat of something else.

Picky, picky, picky! You'll never find another cheap chopper that good anywhere else.

If you want it to look pretty, spray a coat or two of black Rustoleum on it.

Darn LT I bet he personally licked all those stickers and put them on the blades. Must be some more of those awful marketing tatics.;)

Don't sweat the small stuff....and it's all "small stuff".

I understand where you're coming from, but really, think about it....
It's a chopper!
I've never seen any chopper that did not have the finish worn from the blade....unless it never gets used.

don't worry, with that crappy a coating it will all be gone very soon, :D besides it's CS you should have expected as much:)

Get a bottle of Birchwood Casey Cold Blue and a cotton ball...That'll fix your problem.

I think I'll probably just strip the old stuff off the rest of the way and rattle can it. As someone pointed out, paint doesn't last long on a chopper, so I tend to shoot for something quick and easy to reapply. Just something to keep it from rusting.

Those damn stickers are a sore spot with me, too. I just want to get them off and wonder if I can burn the bloody things off?

I think some green and black Rustoleum sprayed in a camo pattern would be pretty cool. But ya gotta get the sticker off.
