I left my EDC folder in my pants pocket last night and didn't notice I was missing it until I got to work this morning. I just about turned around and went home to look for it... 25 miles oneway...

I didn't realize how much I actually use it everyday. Every time I went to grab it I thought I had lost it somewhere:(

That freebee POS that I keep in my desk drawer finally got to see the light of day, sure was happy when I got home and slid 'old familiar' back into my pocket. Anyone else get that feeling in the pit of their stomach when they don't have a blade close, or am I... I'm not even going to finish that statement :p

I've been carrying a knife for well over 2 decades, daily. We use the term naked, feeling naked when I don't have a knife, which is very, very rare. But it does happen, mostly when flying.

I am quite adament about teaching my guys (work and classes) how important it is to have a knife. So far, everyone that I have taught about knives, both in and out of work, have adapted to daily carry of a blade of some sort.

They will say from time to time, "Hey, Moose, can I borrow a knife for the day, I'm naked". They know I carry at least three on me daily.:D

I have a knife on me before I leave the bedroom, first on, last off.

I know the feeling.

I can't leave the house without a knife. Makes me feel helpless in a way. Some times i forget to grab one it in the mornings so i keep a couple in my car. Also i aways have one in my B.O.B. in my car.

My EDC is pretty regimented, watch, ring, wallet, knife, gun, etc. Anything missing throws me off.

Between me, the GHB and my BOB, I can usually replace just about any item I forgot at home.

I hate being parted from my knives. I've come up with a solution to avoid forgetting them. Before I go to bed, I empty my pockets into the bag I carry every day. If I forget to put something in my pocket in the morning, it is in the bag with me, assuming I didn't also forget the bag.

Man, I HATE that about flying. But what I would hate more would be to slip a favorite EDC in my pocket before heading to the airport, only to have to give it up to the TSA

Its crazy, you don't relize how much you really use a knife until its missing....

That's why I carry 4. Kershaw Skyline, Kershaw JYD (large one), Leatherman Kick and my USA Old Timer Stockman. If I happen to forget one (or god forbid lose one) I'm still good to go. :D

Although I bought the ZT 0300 (which even with its stated specs still feels heavier), I am so paranoid about having to surrender up my EDC that I switched back to carrying the Kershaw OSO Sweet. Losing a $20 knife is one thing, but a several hundred dollar knife? The police or TSA would just keep that shiz and flaunt it after confiscating it.

The TSA actually sells a lot of their confiscated items on ebay, believe it or not. Gerbers, Kershaws, whole batches of Victorinoxes even.

I always keep a backup mini-grip tucked away in my pack, just in case my fixed-blade edc gets taken. Thank goodness that hasn't happened, though *knocks on wood*

Man, I hear that. I was in the woods one day a couple years ago and the next day after I'd gotten home, I realized I couldn't find My Benchmade Rukus.

So I called in sick to work and headed back out to the woods to look for it. I went over the whole area a couple times and nothing. So I went in to work and my wife sends me a text message saying she found my knife in the baby's playpen, and he was playing with it, with the blade open. She hid that knife from me for over a month, so I guess I know what you mean.

I hate it when I forget to grab a knife thinking that there is one in my pocket when there isn't. Plus side is that I typically have another one somewhere that is close by or with me.

I carry everywhere except work. And then, I just leave it in the car. I've tried tucking a blade inside my scrub pants, but it feels heavy and awkward.

Losing a blade, or forgetting to grab one before leaving the house makes me seriously uncomfortable.

I've had a knife in my pocket everyday since somewhere around 1965. Finding my pocket empty for one reason or another is like going naked not to mention the short term anxiety. Airports are definitely a pain. I've walked into the metal detector three or four times with a knife. Luckily, I've been able to mail it to myself or early on, the airline would box it and put it on the airplane. Mike

I HATE that naked feeling.....I ALWAYS have a backup in my truck, in my dop kit, in my "always take" suit case.......Not to mention the BOBs, etc....Same with flashlights, and boy does Susan give me grief about that.....I use both multiple times virtually every day.....When I leave the bedroom after hot tub a knife, flashlight, bic, hotel card wrapped with six feet of Gorrilla tape and a pair of thin leather work gloves go in the pants pocket....

NEVER go naked into the wilderness. or the yard, for that matter....

All Best....

I have been there twice, and it was a horrible feeling.

The first time, I hopped in the car, and drove home and looked for an hour til I found it.

Second time, well, let's say the first time taught me a lesson. I had a spare skeletool CX in the glove box. That was still pretty stressful though, because the other one was taking two days to turn up. Found it, finally, under the drivers seat. Felt like a dummy, but was really thankful I had the spare to get me through those couple of days.

Now though I no longer have a spare CX since I gave it to a buddy that kept talking about how much he wanted one, so I better not lose it again. :D

I've had a knife in my pocket continually since 1978. That was the year I bought a SAK Farmer. Since then, it has been at least one knife on me daily. I still carry an SAK, but feel naked without my BK14 or IZULA or ESEE-3 or 4 on my belt as well as my AFCK or Manix2 or Hinderer clipped to my pocket.

I keep an ESEE 6 in the vehicle as a Gerber Gator and Leatherman.

As far as travel goes. Knives go under the plane. Or, for places I frequent. I leave a knife there so it is waiting for me.

Naked, what a perfect description of that feeling. I have also carried a pocket knife every day for over 25years. As you can tell, I have not been in the knife community for long, but am sure enjoying the introduction.

Finding one that you've given up for lost is one of life's "special" moments. It'll make you smile for an hour straight.

One of my favorites had been missing for months and I found it a pocket of a daypack a couple of days ago. It was like birthday christmas.
