Here’s my latest 10” pattern welded chef knife.
The blade is forged in a coarse laddered w’s pattern in 15n20 and CruForgeV. The one-piece bolster is black canvas micarta, with spacers of blue G10 and stainless steel. The grip wood is stabilized dyed burl, “insanity wood” given to me by the talented and generous Bill Akers (Backwoods Custom Knives.)
Overall it’s a light knife with ample knuckle clearance, and quite thin. The last bit of width toward the edge is very slightly convex to aid in food release. The edge profile tends toward the French tradition of less belly, more of a push cutter’s knife.
Stats:
Blade length – 10”
Overall length – 14-7/8”
Max blade width – 2”
Spine thickness at ricasso- .125
Edge thickness before sharpening - .009”
Overall weight – 7.5 oz.
Here’s a few pics and a short vid. Enjoy! Tell me what you think about it if you like…

Very Nice. The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the pattern was earthquake. Looks a lot like a seismograph print. SWEET.

Chuck, I thought polygraph pattern. I like your "seismograph" better! Thanks man, it means a lot coming from a smith like you.

Less is more with the layers here, plus what's not to love about Batman?!! Looks like it would be a complete pleasure to use. 10/10.

I really like the bolster/guard idea. Elegant solution to a problem that most kitchen knives have.

You've got quite a roll going my friend...,another exceptional piece. :)

Thanks for the good words guys! Scott, this is one of the areas on a kitchen knife that can be done so many different ways- I do like what this method affords in terms of overall handle styling as I always like some forward slant to the front of a handle. Thanks for noticing.

I like the pattern too.
One thing that caught my attention is that this is a hidden tang. Ya just don't see that very often with a chef's knife. I like that!
Oh, good job!

I'm loving this one. The damascus is bold and really works on this blade imo. Nice and light. Thanks for sharing it.
Cheers Keith

Beautiful knife. The Damascus pattern reminds me of Arabic writing.
Love the handle material combo and fit and finish looks spectacular.
