Got this great sting ray skin a week ago, very nice to work with, The bag is 6 oz veggitan lined in 3 to 4 oz red upholstery leather, padded inlay. Its face and tail end will become a nice inlaid hawk sheath.

Best regards

Robin

Hey Randy.
I'm going to use the whole face piece as an inlay into a bag made forom the red leather, looks scary with the red suede side showing through the eye holes. Probably won't be a big hit with the general public ;-)))
I've never eaten Sting Ray, I ate a lot of Shark when we lived on Maui for a year, I imagine Ray would taste similar?
Thanks for the comments
Best regards

That stingary was colored in some way? I love the look of that tecture.

Hey pullrich, No it's a natural skin, jet jet black with the white eye, the surface is like millions of gem stones. If you have ever seen shark skin it's pretty much the same surface. Shark and Ray skin is used in Japanese sword handles, under the silk wrap.
Very tough but soft .

That black ray skin would make one hell of sheath for a Tac hawk of some sort, may be a RMJ kestrel. Very cool work Robin.

Hey Edwin
It will make a hawk sheath and I have another skin that will make a sheath for a dagger that I have on the drawing board, maybe a pair. ;-)

Keep well Bro
