A new Bark River - and a newly finished sheath.

Here is my new Bark River Hiking and Camping Forum Knife (from that other forum). It has G-10 scales. The handle is an Aurora based handle and the blade is much like an Aurora - a bit thinner over all and just under 4 inches. Kevin Estella had a lot to do with its making and - I must say - he has a good eye for design. In my opinion - this knife is wanting for VERY little.

I will do a full review as I own it for a little longer - but the poor Rampless Gunny is getting shoved aside already. (No one puts Gunny in the corner!)

The sheath I made for it was actually meant to be for another blade - but when I forgot to stamp it with my makers mark - I simply made it for my Forum Knife. Now that I see the pics - they really make the color look crappy. I will get better pics of the sheath. I love the sheath's color - but the pics make it look dirty.

I really like both the knife and the sheath. While the pic of the sheath does make it look a little dirty, but it is a good look for a knife and sheath that are going to be used and not stuffed into a glass case. Is this a production knife? If so what is it's name.

Great pics TF! I'm glad you posted a side by side of the Gunny and the H&C knife. Does the handle feel roomier that the Gunny's where the fingers go?

Also I love that firesteel. Do you make those?

Do you people read? ;)

The name of the knife is the Knife Forums (I didn't say that) Hiking and Camping Forum knife. But only 30 were made.

The firesteel was made by Countryboycansurvive.

Yes it is a LOT roomier. Essentially handle a Aurora and a Gunny - you have the EXACT comparison.

The sheath is not dirty - in fact it is a very clean unstained looking sheath.

That's to bad that only 30 of those were made. Looks like it would be a real winner. When I read the first sentence of the first post I never would have thought that was the name of the knife.

Is it just me or does that sheath look a little dirty?
J/K :D

Wow, at first I though it was an Aurora. It looks like the primary bevel doesn't goes up as high as on the Aurora but the blade is thinner, interesting. How thick is the blade?

I like it! Just my two cents' worth, but it has clean lines, as does the knife, and I like functional. Great firesteel, too!

I like it too. I decided not to buy one when I found out the price. It just doesn't seem distinct enough from the Aurora to justify a purchase. I still think that the Canadian Special is Mikes masterwork for the BRKT line. Thanks for the pics TF.

MS3902,

They call it the H&C Forum knife.

The blade is .140

Aurora is .170

Thanks for clearing that up for me.:D

It has been one of those days when my brain just don't seem to work all that well. Anyway keep up the great work with those sheaths they really are a work of art.

Thanks MS - I was just playin' with ya - I hope you know.

TF

I figured you were.
I haven't posted on here much in the past but I lurk everyday. I have been trying to change that. So it is good to know that I didn't step on any toes in trying to contribute more.:D

I hope to post up some pics soon but it seems like I just run out of time. My little boy takes all my time right now. Only free time is after 8:00 p.m. when he goes to bed.

Talfuchre,

That is a is another nice looking sheath from you. The knife is pretty nice too. It looks kind of familiar to me.... I'm glad it has found a good home.

Enjoy it in good health.

Phil

Good looking knife, should be great for it's intended h&c role. I love that sheath even if it is a little dirty.

Beautiful, I prefer leather that maintains it’s character. Cameras don’t always tell the truth. Do you hand stitch the sheaths. I have a Tipman but I haven’t spent enough time with it yet.

I built two sheaths for my Aurora, being left handed I usually make new knives a sheath. One is good for falling out of a canoe and not loosing the knife the other is a little more ornamental and a bit over the top.

Phil, Glad to see you made it over here. Thanks for the knife - the packaging and shipping was PERFECT.

MS,

I know totally - I have two boys under 5.

Hushnel,

I hand stitch.
