a new book about balisong

Looks awesome! I don't care if I can't read French! I WANT.

[I don't get excited about too many things, gimme a break Dudley!]

Now this IS exciting news.

Congratulations, Guillaume. The pictures look absolutely first-rate.

Publishing a book is BIG news. I'm gonna copy this into the General Forum for broader exposure so that ALL bf.c members can know that one of our own has published a new book!

Great job Gillaume!

............. please let us know when it's available.

Don Rearic! Dude, long time no see. Good to see ya' back amongst us.

Please, print an english version...pretty please with sugar on top. otherwise I'll have to start learning French again. Only did a few months back when I was 12 years old. Thanks.....RDT

I'll bet that was quite an undertaking........too bad I don't read French. :(

Dear all,

I wanted to inform you that I had just published a book about balisong. It is the first one in French language. It's brand new, I've had the first one in my hand 4 days ago.
If you want to know more, I put a webpage online with some scans to give an idea... the page is not yet integrated with the balisong.net website (it will be soon).

http://www.balisong.net/en/book.htm

I wanted to show this new balisong stuff to you before anybody else because The Balisong Forum! is definitely the place for balisong lovers =)

Thanks for any comment/question,

Guillaume

Guillaume, that looks like a quality book!:) Congrats, looks like hard work! Is there a plan for a version in English? I don't know a lick of French...:(

Yowzers Guillaume. How long have you been keeping THIS under you hat? It looks like you spent a lot of time on this project!

And I don't care if I can't read French... I usually just look at the pictures anyhow! :D :p

Edit: 500 posts!!! *Dave jumps in the air, clicks his heels and falls on his ass* YAY! :D :D

Well, even after 6 years of French I bet I can't read it all... :(

But I'll definitely order one for the library....

Félicitation Msr. Guillaume.

I am seriously impressed. For someone to publish a book is a big deal. You really have to know your stuff to have a quality book. Thus, Congratulations!

Those are some wicked pictures too. I mean, he looks like he's ready to kill with that icepick stabbing position! ARG!

Good job, nonetheless. Just out of curiosity, did Benchmade help with publication, due to the fact that there is a BM 42SBLK on the cover and mention of BM42 in the book?

Peace!

Most exellent, Guillaume! That looks very exciting. But I think I'll wait to buy it until there's an english version (if there will ever be one). I'm a lot like Blasto too (only looking at the pictures), but if the pictures look really interesting (like they do in Guillaume's book), I sometimes bother to read a little of the text. :)
By the way, how the hell did you manage to keep those big news all to yourself? :p Good job! :D

Now all that's missing, is a book about balisong collecting (hint hint, Chuck, Tony, Dudley, blade etc.)! :D That's would be perfect.

This is some wonderful news Mon Ami...

I'm so proud to 'know' someone who is really a published author. The book looks real good, and like others, I'll patiently wait for an English language version, and hopefully have it signed by you personally.

Question: What does the word 'couteau' mean in English?

Very Best Wishes!

Uncle Philthy

Wow.., what an undertaking! Congratulations Guillaume. A serious task! Geeeeesh.., I still have nightmares about published grad school material 25 years down-the-road.

Please let us know about how-when-where we can get your hard work.

Thanks for all your congratulations.
I kept it secret because I didn't know when it would be finally finished... it took much more time than I thought, as it is the first one.

I don't plan to write the English version because there are already many books in English about balisong, and my publisher has not yet a good distribution net in the US. Second, they trusted me because they knew me (I write articles for their mag) and because I had the argument of "it'll be the first French book on the subject". It's not easy to convince a publisher to invest on a book, mostly if there are several other ones, of good quality, on the market (I think of Imada's book).

Tonyccw, it will be a good mean to re-learn French :-)
Anyway there are many many pix, and the graphist did a good job, it's not boring browsing it.

UnclePhilty, "Couteau" = Knife and "Papillon" = Butterfly.
"Couteau Papillon" is the classical French saying for those who don't know the word "balisong".

Bloodyknuckles, yes I have been in touch with Benchmade and they gave me pictures, support and help; no money. This is a BM42AS on the cover (the scan does not render exactly the colors as in real).

Clay, it is available now.

Guillaume

This is simply great!

CONGRATULATION!

A new book on balisong is long awaited. The last proper book on Balis was the Imada's, around 15 years ago. I hope you can persuade your publisher. Given the rise of balisong in the publicity (BM now in production), the number of book available (even now in English) is way below market demand.

Go ahead in English my fellow baliswinger!

(Tony, I hope you don't mind we use the same avatar for the time being :D )
Ixpfah, what a good one. Looks like me ;)

French only, eh? But I don't know, french! *Sob sob* ;)
So what, it's a book about balisongs! I'm saving up for one. :D
Great work, Guillaume!
