Went to the hardware store to get supplies for a project I'm working on. Had to order some clamps because they were out. While I was back at the special order desk I saw their knife display and noticed it had a few Case knives. After a bit of looking and fondling a Yellow handled Medium Stockman followed me home.

After getting home I put the knife to the side and got back to my project. That was this morning, a few minutes ago I looked at the box to see what model I had and it said 3318 CV and the box mentioned Chrome Vanadium Steel blades. Been wanting a Carbon steel Stockman for a while now, figured this one was stainless but it's not. I'm happy! Can't wait to make some camp crafts with this little honey this spring.

Sorry I don't have pictures (left my camera at home and am at my mom's) but it's shown in the lower left corner of this page: W.R. Case Yellow knives

Will be at the hardware store Friday or Saturday to pick up my clamps and might check the knife case for more CV Case's. :D

Thanks Mark! I have an afternoon snack and today I am having Yogurt, an Orange, an apple and some beef summer sausage. Used the main blade to cut up the Sausage and apple. I think a patina is starting to form from those. :) I'll try to post pics from my camera after I eat and get back from the post office.

I carry a Case Yellow Handled Stockman (3347H) everyday. My dad bought it in 1966 before going to Vietnam. I carry it now and while the blades are a bit thinner, it works like a champ and is still sharp as hell. They seem to last forever.

none knows case knives in europe, you may find opinels in a hardware store, or even no knives
good ones at least

I got to buy them online, without having seen them before, only pics..

I'm back from the post office so here are some pictures.

The main blade, right after cutting up some summer sausage:

All the blades open for you to see:

it looks like the sheepsfoot rides awfully high when in the closed position

is it high enough to be a problem for you? It could be the way the picture makes it look but the blade looks like its higher than the liners and could catch (or cut) something while in your pocket

It does ride high, but the tip and edge are protected in there so it shouldn't be a problem. If it is, I'll have Case take care of it. The knife is pretty sharp so I hope it's not a problem.

well i hope not, having a blade ride too high while in a mans front pocket could be a reallllly bad thing ;)

i was just curious. if its working for you, well more power to you and i hope you enjoy it ;)

Great find.
It really is an addiction. I was wandering through a hardware store and saw a CV Trapper Christmas before last. It is still in my pocket every day but it was only the first of many.

one of my faves, and the sheep foot riding high is normal wont hurt in pocket as the edge is hidden by the master, that said if it bothers ya you can file down the kick rather than send it back, takes just a few with a file or a dremel.
enjoy your new knife! cant go wrong with yeller!

Thansk for the tip. I might try it, if it bothers me.

Good on yer mum fer lettin' ya keep it.;)

LOL! What she don't know won't hurt me. ;)

There is a good chance that I will get more in the future, especially if I find another good deal on an older CV Case. BTW I checked the box and this one is dated 2004.

i know you guys are probably getting tired of seeing these pictures, but i just can't help myself, especially when someone else is excited about a yella cv stockman. i think you picked a good one, i carry mine everyday and the sheepsfoot rides the same in mine and it hasn't been a problem in the almost two months it's been in my pocket.

When the knife is in the pocket, the sheepsfoot is between the master clip on one side and the spey on the other. When you are using the knife, it should not be a problem either. It looks a bit odd, but it is by no means unique to the knife you have. The only reason it will bother you is someone has pointed it out. Might become a psycological problem, but not likey a real one.

Sam, I'm pretty sure no one minds you posting that photo as many times as you feel the urge to do so. We all love looking at knives and it's somewhat cheaper to do it here at Bladeforums than at a real brick and mortar store. (maybe)

i wasnt trying to dissuade him or anything.
my first stockman (and only one to date) the sheepsfoot sits lower and when i saw it, it looked odd, so i was asking if it was an issue or just the way they are.

apparently thats just the way case does their stockmans and its not an issue... so no worries on my part and i again am in no way trying to ruin his happiness or dissuade him from enjoying his new knife

I know you weren't, and my comments were to merely provide some comfort factor for the OP regarding the knife. - Ed

Gentlemen, thanks for the pictures, concern and good information.

Had a couple different CV slip joints when I was a cub scout. Lost them all durring moves or what not. Not only is this new knife funtional, but it also reminds me of my childhood and the fun times I had learning to use a knife and the little things I used to carve with them.

Last summer I got some slip joints in trade, SS Case, SS Camillus, SS Imperial Shrade. I have a feeling that this CV Case will get more pocket time. Probably has to do with Nastalgia from my youth. :) If I remember, I'll post pictures of my Red Handled SS Case Sodbuster Jr that I got last summer. IMO it's a sweet little knife. Thinking I might try to find a CV version to go with it. ;)
