I had a CQC7b for about five years and lost it in a car accident (emergency room stole it). Anyway got some coin together and ordered another. I did not realize how much I missed the heft and quality of an Emerson CQC7. New one has the stand offs - very nice. I've had it for about two weeks now. It was a little stiff when I got it. It came super sharp and blade was centered and lock up was nice and early. My only issue was a sticky liner lock. I waited before taking it apart for a proper cleaning. Today I had some spare time so I sat down with straight slot and small Phillips. I've heard about all the gritty gunk that Emerson puts into the pivot area. To my surprise when I took it apart there was no gritty gunk. And on the newer Emerson knives the washers are both the same size.
After a proper cleaning and a little Rem oil the knife opens a good bit smoother. It feels like a nice hydraulic action. And with a little graphite applied to the lock up area the sticky lock problem is now history.
All in all a very high quality knife. Now to save up for a Horseman or a mini Commander or a mini 15 or a A100 or another version of the 7.
