I had a CQC7b for about five years and lost it in a car accident (emergency room stole it). Anyway got some coin together and ordered another. I did not realize how much I missed the heft and quality of an Emerson CQC7. New one has the stand offs - very nice. I've had it for about two weeks now. It was a little stiff when I got it. It came super sharp and blade was centered and lock up was nice and early. My only issue was a sticky liner lock. I waited before taking it apart for a proper cleaning. Today I had some spare time so I sat down with straight slot and small Phillips. I've heard about all the gritty gunk that Emerson puts into the pivot area. To my surprise when I took it apart there was no gritty gunk. And on the newer Emerson knives the washers are both the same size.
After a proper cleaning and a little Rem oil the knife opens a good bit smoother. It feels like a nice hydraulic action. And with a little graphite applied to the lock up area the sticky lock problem is now history.
All in all a very high quality knife. Now to save up for a Horseman or a mini Commander or a mini 15 or a A100 or another version of the 7.

Emergency rooms don't steal knives. Just needed to clear that up real quick. In the past 12 years I have learned that people (98% of the time are drunk) are told by the ER staff "sir your knife is in your property bag" or "sir you knife is going with security you can get it when you are discharged". Then after the person sleeps off their 18 beers they forget all about what they were told, go home and tell all their friends and people on the internet "the paramedics or ER stole my knife". Paramedics, nurses, techs and doctors have no interest in your knife. Either way, congrats on your new Emerson.

Not going to get into a p*ssing contest with you. I was there and you were not. Your assumptions are incorrect.

I had open heart surgery 1 year ago and one of the nurses stole my camera out of my room while I was in surgery.. I wanted the pics in the camera more than the camera itself.

Anyway, I reported it to staff and security had me fill out forms..

The hospital never compensated me on that camera.

So it seems like hospital staff have open season on things you bring with you..

The worst part of all this the camera was in my bag with stuff..which means they had to reach in and take it.

During the initial two weeks prior to taking apart and cleaning my CQC7 the pivot screw would loosen up as I worked the action. Since taking it apart and cleaning the pivot screw has not moved at all. No loc-tite, no nothing. On my previously owned CQC7 the pivot screw would occasionally need tightened.
You more experienced Emerson owners tell me if this is common or not. Do you need to use loc-tite?

I've used loc-tite on my Mini 7 because the pivot would get loose with mutiple opening and closings. Problem solved.
