He just got home with us 3 days ago, and has been a terr... uh, I mean joy since then. At least he hasn't chewed up any of my Busse sheaths yet!

I had to share him with the Busse crew, so watch your ankles during the next Ganza!

Thanks guys, and yes Tom, he is gonna GROW into a great pal for sure! He's going to be gigantic, 28-30 in at the shoulder and 130+ lbs. Gonna be a big boy!

Wow, it's going to take a lot of kibble to grow that boy up. I don't envy your dog food bill.

The SMD's are really interesting to me, as I like bigger dogs anyway. The biggest dog I have owned was a 165# Alaskan malamute and I couldn't help but smile when people would say "look at that wolf!". He loved to travel with me when I was commuting from Illinois to Missouri when we bought this ranch. Though long gone, he will always be fondly remembered. The last so many dogs we acquired were either dumped on us or were rescued like my rottweiler. She died last June, but not long after a black and tan coon hound cross showed up. I guess we are destined to own dogs!:D

That's a good looking boy. We have 3 Berner boys here. The Swiss dogs are great. Is this your first Swissy?

Congratulations on the new family member.

Tom, I love the large breed dogs too. My condolences on the loss of your girl, and it sounds like your new fella has found the perfect home.

Drumr, he is our first Swissy. I've known a few people that have owned them, and have always loved the breed, and when we were ready for a puppy a GSMD was the first choice. We get asked if he's a Bernese all the time.

That's another nice breed for sure! It gets pretty warm around here in the summer, so we plan on staying with shorter-haired dogs; that is, unless a really NICE long-hair shows up!:D

he is adorable!! I want a puppy, preferably another Pom, but the hubby is not warming up to THAT idea one bit. I have never seen a Swiss, but have known a few people that have had Burnese. They really are beautiful. I was a big dog person, have had German Shepards, Dobermans, etc. but this little tiny Pom is my princess.
