I just wanted to brag about my 2004 F250 6.0L Diesel again.

I had to go to my sisters house to help her with her rider mower today and thought I would do a fuel milage calculation. It is a 157 mile round trip and 90% freeway. I set the cruise at 70.5 mph (just above 2000 RPM) and enjoyed a beautiful drive on a sunny 78° day.

Anyway, she got 19.5 miles per gallon. One of these days I am going to break that illusive 20 mpg marker. But I am still amazed that a 7600 pound vehicle, that is shaped like a brick, can perform so well. I even had to juice her a few times to get around some slow traffic plus I raced a Chevy out of the gas station (yes, I won, was there any doubt? :D ) and she still almost got 20 mpg.

What are all you guys getting in your "rigs"?

Bout 14 on the highway. Its a piece O crap 88 F150 4wd. It's gonna hafta do me for a while. Saving my money for a tractor.

At one point, I had my spitfire tuned to get 51 mpg at 75 mph on the interstate, my little 'yota gets about 32 with the cruise on.

Sean, it only counts *after* they start the Chevy...... ;)

I get jack mcpoo. Probably about 16 in a 99 Z71 tahoe.

Are you talking about a truck or your girlfriend??? :p

Thats some pretty good Millage for a Ford. Those new engines sure have come a long ways. A friend of mine has a '89 GMC Suburban with the 4 speed auto. We installed a new '97 crate 6.5L Diesel engine in it. Instead of having the standard chain drive, he got a custom Gear drive system for the truck and installed it when it had maybe 1000 miles on the engine. This Half ton 4x4 Suburban gets 21 miles per gallon on the highway and has plenty of get up and go. BTW he hasn't turbo'd it yet. :)
