Here is one that I have been working on off and on between Bowies.

It has a forged 1084 blade that measures 4.5 inches long and is 1/4 inch thick at the ricasso.

I had a piece of caribou that I was not sure that I could use since it had a couple odd tines heading off in bizarre directions.....but it does make an excellent handle material. the spacer is cocobolo, saved from scrap in the true "knifemaker" tradition.

I don't do alot of hunters. This is more of a hunter/utility at its size.

That's a very nice knife. I really like the combination of materials you used for the handle. I got one from B. Buxton ( similar to the one on the exchange forum) that is close in composition. Very pleasing to the eye, it reminds me of the stag and leather washer style handle Mr. Scagel did.
Regards, Greg

very classy. pleasing lines good confomation, nice complimentary colors. if it cuts as good as it looks you've got a world class knife.

The size is great. I have orders for 2 hunters coming up. both requested not more than 4 inches.

4 inches is all you need to dress out a deer...
Awesome looking knife....I haven't done one in that style in a long time.I used to make allot of hunters with stag and saved scrap spacers when I started,I don't know what happened but things change..

I wish I could convince my wife that four inches is all you need. As far as a hunter goes, that blade looks to be a perfect length to me. The rest of the knife looks great to. I love that handle.

Great looking hunter. The carribou is rare to see on knives. I have a straight piece that I want to try. It seems very solid like stag. Maybe it will make a good substitute for our dwindling stag supply although maybe too smooth for some folks.
Nice spacer guard and blade too.

Greg,

Nice looking hunter! I do alot of deer hunting and anything more than 4 inches just get's in the way. Good job.

Greg, nice knife! That really takes me back to the 70s, when hunting knives knew their work and makers knew how to pull it out of them. Great job and a fine grind on that one. Thanks for the inspirational nostalgia trip!

Yeah I'd love to see the sheath also if time permits....

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Here is a pic of the knife in the sheath. Normally I do all my own sheath work but this one is made by Sherry Lott. It fits the knife so nice that I don't want to make a new one!
