A new knife...and I broke all of my own rules.

Yes, I bought another knife yesterday, and I did'nt follow any of the advice I usually give to others about knives.

I usually advise something like this:

No heavy knives
It must be a one-hand-knife
It must have a pocket-clip
It must have a premium blade-steel (VG-10, ATS-55, AUS-8, 440C, ATS-34, S30V, 154CM, ect)

So, totally ignoring all of that, I bought a...

Buck 112FG Ranger!

It's rather heavy (5.6oz)
No thumbstuds or thumb-hole
No pocket-clip
And a less than premium blade-steel

But I simply could'nt resist.
It's beautiful and strong and fits my hand perfectly.

Will it replace my Spyderco G-10 Police as my EDC?
Probably not, but it sure feels good!

Feel free to ignore my advice--I did.

Cheers,
Allen.

Those 112 with finger grooves are great.
I bought one myself a few days ago, I wasn't even planning on it but after I handled the knife I knew I needed it.
It took a very sharp edge.

Exactly!
The polished brass and smooth wood with the finger-grips are awesome!

It really is a wonderful knife--if it had better blade-steel it would be nearly perfect.

Allen.

How about one of these? :)

Lone Wolf T2. Smooth wood handles, titanium liners, s30v blade.

Not to hi-jack the thread, But...How ya' doin' with that T-2 these days Wade?

(Does the custom shop do the 112 in BG-42 and all? that'd be cool....)

I'm really happy with the T-2. It glides through card board. I'm trying to keep it looking nice so I haven't put it through to many demanding tasks yet. :)

I keep thinking about picking up a Buck 110 or 112. I wish they made production models with BG-42 and you didn't have to special order them, or whatever. I bet you can get a 112 in BG-42, probably have to give them a call. I wonder if they offer them with s30v? :)

Hi There
have a look in the Buck Forum, there is a discussion on this topic happening now.

Cabela's sells a S30V Buck 110.

Got one of those from Cabelas for $60 (Alaskan Guide Series)

It is one sweet knife - also the sheath is of better quality than what comes with the standard Buck 110.

I'll third this bit of advice... I have one too and it is a great knife. Laser sharp and the sheath is a handsome dark brown/burgundy-ish thick leather belt sheath. Best $60 I've spent on a knife.

WadeF,
That T-2 looks beautiful!

Not to be nosey--but roughly how much does it cost?
One of the reasons I bought the 112 was that it is so affordable for a working stiff like myself.
I paid $39.00 for the 112.
I think I got a bargain.

Thanks for the picture,
Allen.

Those T-2's are usually around $150. At the knife show I was at, they were $199. Some place had them for $130 I think... You would have to look around.
