so i know i am getting a ranger shiv and money for christmas. i wnat to get a nice new knife to go along with it. about the same size. im looking at a f1 or maybe a falkniven, but i dont want to spend more than 80 bucks. any suggestions? any help appreciated!!!:D

They don't get a lot of notice, but Entrek Knives have about 5 knives that are around the dollar figure you wish to spend. The best of which, in my opinion of course, is the Jag model. This is a tanto, but it has a slightly rounded edge intersection that makes it more usable for utility chores. Take a look at 'em here; www.discountsupplyunlimited.com :D:thumbup:

now these ar nice knives, but i am woried about 440c. i know it is good, but i have heard it is had to sharpen, and me only using a crap sharpening stone, which i am not good at anyway, would this really be the best bet for me? idk but they are nice :D

440C is not really difficult to sharpen compared to other stainless steels. However, I think you ought to get a good sharpening system like the Spyderco Sharpmaker or (my favorite) the Lansky first. I know that getting another knife is more appealing than buying a sharpener, but it's an investment that will certainly pay off in the long run.

ya ive been thinking bout that. anyone know where to get a good lansky set or any other good set for a reasonible amount?

Get a Fallkniven F1,you will not regret it.
A piece of 600 grit Wet&Dry glued to a "Mouse mat" will sort your sharpening problems.
It is a fine knife and it will last you for a lifetime.

Seem like Wal Mart carries the Lansky system or one like it with their name. Not sure but worth a try. To me though, the Spyderco Sharpmaker is the way to go. If your knives are already fairly sharp the Sharpmaker can be used to touch up the edge and keep them razor sharp. Even if you do let them get dull, the grey stones can cut a new edge fairly quick. Not a bad investment to go ahead and get!

Btw, the 440C that Entrek uses goes threough several stages to bring out the best that this steel has to offer. Don't confuse it with the S&W knives claimimg 440C!

ya i have been thinking an f1 but my uncle is getting it for me:D and as for the sharpening system ill have to go adn look for it at wally world. hopefully they have one. and ill have to lok for the sharpmaker. all ym knives are working shrp, i cna do that with a stone, just not razor sharp or extremly working sharp. and i have been looking around at entrek knives. seems like ill have to keep an eye out for them too. damn ima go broke soon:cool:
