Well I just got a new knife for our giveaway. It is called the American Slider.

It is a unique knife and with and with a flick of the wrist it is ready for action. According to Tim it is not a gravity knife but it operates in a manner which is very similar to one.

Visit Tim's web site for more info until we give one away!

I will play with this knife over the next few weeks and will give you a review soon!

Is that for the monthly give-away, or the anniversary trivia contest?

That will be for our Trivia Contest. It will be the last knife we give out unless we get some more.

I would really like to see more dealers involved in our give away!

What do the people who give away knives get out of this? Well exposure for one and an article or ad in our new magazine!

So what are you people waiting on give us some knives!

So, I guess if we've already won once, we're not eligible for this one?

You can win more than once but those on the moon of Endoor can only win once

Just kidding!

You can win more than once in any of our contests. I try to make each contest a bit different and at different times to make them fair to all.

How am I doing?

Mike:

The only thing that would make it more fun is if I win one of these neat knives.

You know, I'm really hesistant to post this, but there's no way the American Slider is "legal" in California. Jim March, what do you think?

Any knife that can be opened with a flick of the wrist is not leagle in California. Any one cought with one by any LEO will at the least lose his or her knife. That means even if you have a worn buck 110 folder it's gone at the very least if it will open by just a flick of the wrist.I know a LEO who checks for this every time he checks some one with a knife.

That's the way I read it. Of course, you can own any knife, it's the carrying that's verboten.

(This refers ONLY to Calif knife laws, not other states or Fed rules.)

Ewok may well be right.

As I see it, Penal Code 653k specifically *legalizes* any system where you push on the blade such as a thumbstud, hole, disk, etc. So far we think the Camillus Cuda can slip by because the "stud" is connected directly to the blade.

But there's some indications that the "Leverlock" types with a large manual switch are NOT OK. There's been one arrest that I know of.

This thing is even worse; there doesn't seem to be a direct connection beween the release button and the blade material. That means it's not protected by PC653k.

I think it's trouble.

Jim

The fact that the blade is hidden when retracted makes it virtually indefensible (to carry) in our jurisdiction. Of course, as a novelty, I'd still like to have one.

EWOK you are most correct when you say it is the carrying that will land you in a lot of trouble. I get the smoky mountian knife catalog and in it, it has all the knives which they wont ship to california and MA clearlt marked even some that are leagal to own in CA. such as a dagger it is legal to own but not to carry it concealed. Go figure I went round the bush with them over this with no success. They said that the attorney generals office told them what they could ship and what they couldn't.

Mike did you really think about this? I know that many places will only let a person win 1 time per contest. Go ask any radio station how they deal with contest hogs.
