I don't usually post my WIP pics in here, but this time I'm a gonna :D

I've been trying out a 1/8 inch 1080 on some blades, with a higher convex.

This is a WIP- handle is down to 220 hand sanding, grind is at 320. I have to take the handle to 400 and the grind to 800 and then start on the leather polishing process

Damned thing felt so nice (without scales) yesterday on the throwing range that I blew a half hour on it. obviously, no breakage. I managed to get a slight roll in the preliminary edge when I made a bad throw and hit another blade. But not much, and not a chip, so I'm happy. Don't throw knives at knives!!!!! (the tang of the other knife had a nice dent)

OAL: 10.5 inches with a blade length of 5 3/4. The drop edge 'guard space' is 1/8 inch and edge drop from the handle line is 3/8 with a 3/8 radius. Handle is thick and simple, which is the maximum ergos IMO.

Maple scales, with solid pins (not sure why) up front.

the convex I've been putting on these blades has managed to shave the pad off my index finger thin enough to not bleed while I was wiping down a blade for shipping. Scary stuff.

That maple looks like it will polish up like an old golden flame top Gibson Les Paul, too.

This is the bushcrafting leuku variant, just a slight refresh on the design with the 1/8 inch 1080.

For those of you not tired of hearing it-

The straight spine is kept squared for scraping and it makes draw knifing safer than a spear or clip point.

I've kept this design focused on a simple handle shape for multiple grip ergos and it's big enough for a full fist grip, but with a rounded butt and short enough for good performance with the base of the handle on the palm heel.

Otherwise- traditional big leuku belly and a long straight portion makes for a really versatile design, I think.

comments on design welcome, of course. (Might be time for a new passaround)

I like doing pins like that, I've always eyeballed the spacing, it's sort of a golden ration thing.

but I really do, for myself, prefer a forward lanyard tube being available. Still, massive 316 stainless rods look pretty cool

Now that I like. LOVE the higher convex - will make it a better slicer.

I think the handle should taper some toward the blade - I think the hand transition to the blade would be rough right now - but the rest I love.

Plunge lines, finish, logo - all look awesome.

You know how much I prefer micarta, but I must say, the handle on that is gorgeous  The edge also looks mean..
