A friend of mine found a type of light he really likes a while back and he just gifted me one. I played with it some and I see why he likes them so much. I wanted to experiment some more with lighting and shutter speeds so I rode over to a friend's office for a while. Kim is a massage therapist who is into flowers so the three acres of field behind her office is really coming to life right now. I thought that should be a good place to study lighting and shading. I even got a royal reception

I walked down to the creek where her fire pit is and hung out for a while checking out the light and rearranging gear.

This is looking back up from the creek, my trucks in this picture too....sort of center-left.

The light is a "Black Crater, Hyper-bright Cord Lock" LED light from Photon light dot com, and this is how it comes, in a little blister pack. If you get one make sure you read the info on the invoice about it being shipped in a protective "demo mode" and how to un-do that.

It's not very big at all.

But the opening is large enough to easily slide doubled paracord through.

I at first put it on a section of paracord already on the pack just to see how it worked. It has three different modes, low, high, and flash. I could tell it's a pretty bright little light even out in the bright sunlight. Here it's off.

Later on I cut another piece of paracord and put it on the shoulder strap of my pack.

Then tonight I learned I really do like the light, to be so small it does give a lot of light. I think I am going to get a few more.

Cool, didn't know REI had them, thanks!

The one I saw was up near the checkout. Don't know if that was where it should have been. Oh and before I forget great pics and writeups. I enjoy your posts, they're always full of good info. Thanks again.

They likely have them on a shelf somewhere, and then at the registers too for an "impulse buy".

Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoy the posts.

Nice pictures, I can't wait for summer though. It seems like spring is only to tease fishers till the May opener here. Cool cordlock, I'll be at REI today so I'll check if it's here.

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed them.

I don't have one locally, I have to order my stuff from them off-line.

We had halfassed winter, half the precipitation we usually get, inversion just kinda sat in the valley and made life miserable for 4 months. This spring has been constantly overcast, it's finally precipitating and it's all snow because the temperature decided it wanted to finally drop and act like winter... in april. It's been consistantly around 30 degrees for the last three weeks straight, when it was 45-55 all winter. Grrrr. My trails are muddy swamps, and with the altitude change out here it pretty much prevents you from doing much of anything.

Sorry you had such a screwy winter and so far spring lol. Here it's sunny at the moment and feels like it's about 80 outside.
