A new little slip joint for the EDC rotation.

I got a couple of the Buck 305's. I was lucky and found one with jigged bone handles. I also grabbed up a factory blemish to try as an EDC as the bone one is a limited run and if I didn't like I could pass it to a possible collector. So I say all of that to ask if any one has and experience with this model or any comments. I have pictured it with my peanut for size ref. Thanks for your input!

I've always thought that the lancers where pretty cool given their almost minuscule size. If you like peanuts and smaller pen knives I believe that you'll enjoy a 305. I for one, however prefer the slightly larger 309 Companion which is also a fine knife in it's own right. All in all Bucks modern slip joints are often overlooked by those in the market for slip joints and IMO they are an acquired taste to a certain extent.

I have the import version of the same knife. Love it! It's a great little whittler.
If you don't mind me asking, have you found the blemish on the FB?

Wow, it makes even the peanut look like a big knife! Not an easy task.:D

I know my dad always said, "It doesn't have to be big, just sharp." but even my faith could be put to the test with a Lancer.

My 309 is very well liked, but that 305 is downright minute. Does the bed outmeaure a SAK Zclassic blade?

Excellent question!

If I wasn't down here in Key West, I'd have a classic on hand, but I have only the one knife I sent down. Maybe mrrampro can post the two in question? Certainly the little classic is another tiny knife that has been under estimated by many, including myself. I only know one other person who carries a little Buck slip joint, and t's a 309 companion. But if my friend Wayne's little 309 is any indication, the tiny Buck Lancer may well be capable of real world cutting out of proportion to it's size.

Hmm, maybe a germ of an idea for a new thread here. The tiny knife/big cuts thread. Kind of like the tongue in cheek peanut thread in the wine and cheese section.

Next we'll have tree chopping contests with tuxedo's !:D

"Tall tales of tiny knives".

Nice knives. The Peanut seems to be a real big knife in comparison... Is it a one layer? If so, it will definitelly disappear in any pocket.

THank you for showing it off...

Kind regards
Andi

Started to keep my lip zipped on this one, but was up early so won't.

The Buck 305 has always been the small fellow in the classic line up of the Buck 300 series. No major changes since the late sixties, other than going all stainless construction in early 90's.

I "myself", consider it a 'Gentlemen's" style knife, or as the term has been used on this forum in past, a "Sunday" or suit knife. I have it in my knife roll, but never carry one, favoring the slightly larger size of the two blade 309. The 309 being more of a Buck "Peanut" sized knife. The 303 is also a EDC knife in my world.

Knife size is always debated on a personal level of desire. Its what feels good in your hand and in your pocket and meets you needs. Along the same lines of the "Peanut" aura, a 305 will give you a sharp edge and disappear in your pants if you need it too. If anyone is not sure its small size is for them I would suggest a personal knife store comparison in the hand with something small you know you like.. below are a couple of photos I could easily grab of the major Buck models as comparison.

I don't believe you get the sheath with current purchases of the Dymondwood and Chairman series..

The Lancer is a nice watch pocket knife, waiting to work when needed

I haven't tried any batoning with it :D but like the Peanut it has a big attitude. My 305 sneered at some clamshell packaging last week, cut it open quick no problemo, much to the amusement of a co-worker who had just finished commenting on its small size. It's very people friendly too.

I met an old fisherman here that used his 305 as his only pocket knife. I watched him masterfully clean some (very large) trout with it in no time.

I have a soft spot for the 305 because it was my first knife. Although I've always thought the small coping blade was useless on a knife that was already really small.

Nice knives! Can't go wrong with a yeller Case peanut or a Buck 30X. I like the blue Buck sheild and dymondwood handles... I haven't given the 305's a try but I like the blade combination. I prefer the 303 and 301 size... But I'd love it Buck made a 303 or 301 with just the clip blade and sheepfoot... sort of a larger 305.

If you feel you need to have one of these use a decent knife guy and the black sawcut version. Have him remove one spring and the spey blade. If he buggers up removing the spring rivet, you may have to have some custom scales put on. If I get another made, I will put on some burlwood scales myself. 300

Sorry been a bit since I checked the post. Unfortunately I found the blem I believe the seller thought it to be the sheild. In fact the secondary blade was ground completely wrong and is virtually flat. The ltd ed is awesome though and will get some pocket time. I cannot find my Vic classic but did pick up a 309 and love it here is a pic sorry it's upside down.
