First of all just wanted to say thanks to Rogue Bowie for the zytel scales. I really loved my 14 before this but now its my favorite. I thought since it got a new shirt, it was time for new pants. I had originally set this up for an IWB or jeans pocket carry but find myself tossing it into my edc bag which is always within reach. The only time I ever have it on me is when I am taking a walk/hike or camping. I figured since I would rather wear my 14 than my 2 for weight reasons (2 will be in my pack), I would just make a belt sheath with room for a small kit--so I used ballistic nylon backing from an extra Gerber Prodigy sheath and a nylon pouch that came with a Craftsman folding utility knife I got in my stocking. With a few chicago screws I made myself something perfect for what I need and without any cost. So heres a few "before" shots and a few "after" shots.

Another fine example of American ingenuity & know how.
I always like to see something useful made out of something not being used. Great looking set up!!

Looks like a great setup! I've always throught the BK14 was perfectly suited to be set up with a nice front pouch. Do you have a multitool in there or just using the pouch for something else?

really nice job there. Multi-tool in the pouch? i like the idea, i might have to work something like this for myself in the future.

Nice mod. Never seen this done to a 14 before. I like the pocket add.

Thanks guys. When the photo was taken there wasnt anything in the pouch-I was too tired to put anything in there after I finished it. I thought about what I wanted to put in it (or more accurately, what I actually have to put in there)So heres an updated pic--one of everything in the pouch and one of just the contents.
-cut off pen tube with 10ft of duck tape and caps on each end to hold in a repair needle
-ferro rod
-cheap light
-swiss tech mini multi tool--the only other one I have is a gerber suspension--that wouldnt fit:D
-cheap chinese sak knockoff--its the only knife i have with a saw blade-and if it falls out (since it doesnt fit in the pouch, just under the flap) i wont be too sad

Hey I was just going to email you to see if you got them! Glad to see you not only got them, but turned your 14 into an awesome little package! How are you liking the hand feel of those scales? I'm crazy about mine. Congrats again on the win!

I really like that multitool. It seems to be lacking a bottle opener though, unfortunately. How are you supposed to crack into some brews in a survival situation?? :D

Since that pic was taken (yesterday) I broke the SAK-ish knife. Was testing the strength of it and busted it in half in my hand--cheap chinese junk--I have my SAK Tinker in there for now--its a little to big but oh well. I can use the multi-tool or the spine of my knife to access the survival brews:D
