A new model!!! The Huntsman

Adam, that is a great looking knife! I really like that it readily lends itself not only to skinning and preping game but capable of more camp orientated utility tasks.

Thank you guys for the comments!

I intended this knife to be a do it all knife. A belly for skinning but with enough of a point for drilling, enough weight and length for chopping and batoning, but not so much that it would become clumsy, and a nice thin edge for slicing and carving.

The best way I can say it is, I wanted a bushcraft knife, a survival knife, a camp knife, and a hunting knife all rolled into one:-)

Wow, love the blade shape. Looks like an incredibly capable knife! Great work.

I really like that design. The high grind looks great for slicing. This may be a contender with my favorite of your designs. The first being the XL bushcrafter, the next on my list to buy.

Thank you for all the comments guys!

This knife will be up for sale some time this week; it's been out getting a sheath made for it.

Hey KephaC,

I think it sold on the exchange earlier this month, but I'm sure Adam cam make another!

Of course I can't find the F/S Ad now, so maybe it's still available.

Post pics when ya get one!!!

Does anybody have any thoughts or even a brief review on the Huntsman yet? I really like this design (sort of a hybrid Nessmuk on steroids). It will be my next AA Forge.

I too would love to read a review. Like you, I have pretty much decided that this will be my next AA Knife.

I'm leaning this way too!!! Shouldn't be long now before I get the e-mail from Adam letting me know my spot's coming up.

The Mesquite Huntsman is gone.. :( It was my focus but I didn't have the money yet anyway. That was gorgeous!

I'm considering my options for my Huntsman order. I am open to suggestions regarding handle materials. This will be fun! :)

I much prefer natural handle materials but I'm admittedly picky about movement (shrinkage) due to changes in humidity. As a result I get very selective with natural handles that are less prone to do so. This will be a user and I typically prefer micarta and G10 on a user however this knife screams natural handle materials to me.

So what are some of your favorite combos? They can be natural or synthetics or a combo.

Help me create my Huntsman. :)

Cocobolo with thin red & black liners and solid black pins

OR

Bocote with thin black & brown liners and solid natural micarta pins

OR

Stabilized Walnut with thin black liners and solid black pins

OR....

Ha Ha Dave... it's fun helping other people spend their money!:D (But truth be told, I've been envisioning #2 & #3 since I made it onto the list in January) Just not sure if I'm going with another XXL Bushcrafter, a Huntsman or a Packrat. You also can't go wrong with one of the synthetics, so I'm as much "on the fence" as you are (thinking maybe even going with bone linen on this next one). I've always wanted MuskOx horn but I'm not sure how easy it is to get or how durable it is. I look forward to seeing what you go with! Are you pairing it with a favorite rifle/handgun? That might make the decision easier, but I don't think you can make a bad choice... It IS an AA Forge after all.

I like your suggestion Stump. I agree with you regarding the 2nd and 3rd choices. I have had issues with cocobolo in the past. I like the thought of a stabilized Walnut. I wasn't matching a gun BUT it would look great paired up with my .44 Blackhawk with walnut grips. :) I really liked the Mesquite Adam used on that last Huntsman but I don't know enough about it for a handle material. I'm guessing it might be similar to Desert Ironwood for durability. IDK

I'm not familiar with MuskOx. I know smooth Buffalo horn can crack or check. The roughed out versions seem to be a little more stable. I have never owned a handle in those materials. Now if Adam can do a Stag Huntsman I'd be intrigued! I think you would lose the handle contours with a horned material. I'm not sure.
