Here is a new one I ground out tonight. Im trying to follow my mentor and work in stages. Profile and grind a bunch, than heat treat them all together. It saves money on the propane and electricity with the oven. I have nine done now but I still have steel left!
Anyways, this is an EDC wide bladed skinner/drop point. I got the idea from Liveitloud. He showed me some pics of knives that he liked and I kinda put my spin on it with a forward palm swell and rounding the spine from tip to butt. I am going to make the tip more pointy but Im pretty pleased with it overall. I dont like a large ricasso so I needed to put the deeper choil in the front to act as a safety from the blade. I also like to bring my edges almost all the way back so you can really bear down on something if need be. With the front choil and the forward swell, it really locks your hand in.

looks very functional. i'm diggin your longer handles on your smaller blades.

Thanks Beestokk. Yeah, I gotta have a 4" handle on my knives, but thats just me. I think I might come up with some wider bladed models.

Chris,
Looks good bro! I like the longer handles as well, They
fell pretty good like that! Make a nice EDC

. . . . +1 for me as well . . . . never, ever, ever, less than 4" on the handle . . . . :)
Be safe.

Seems like 4" +/- is about the "norm" for a handle. I always did like a longer handle, and you always have the option of "choking up" on it if you need to.
Good design Chris, now get some wood on it and let's go have a brew . . . . . ;)
Be safe.

That's looking really really good Chris. You have a great eye for aesthetics! I have 2 beautiful knives that get no use because one has a 3 inch handle and the other 3 1/4. What a difference 3/4 of an inch makes.

Very nice Chris...!!!! I really like the design of the whole package. I'm a short, bladed, drop point knife guy (2.5 - 2 .75in).........how long do you envision your blades with the 4in. handles....?

I do agree with you that the drop point needs just a skosh more of a point, but not much.....;).

Seems like you've really got something there. Best of luck with it. Bill can tell you that I really lean heavily towards that design (+/-).

All the best..............

Magnumb, the blades will be anywhere from 2.75 to 3". I made this one just to see if I like the way it felt so it will be going up for sale when I finish it. I will be making on with a more pronounced ricasso also.

Perfect blade length's............IMHO...:D:D.

I'll be keeping an eye out for your completed knives in this pattern in the future......

Best of luck with it!

Chris, you might be on to something. Those of us, me included, have a very limited selection of knives with 2"-3" blades and at least handles of 4" plus. Most of these knives have 3"-3 1/2" handles and are just too awkard to try and use safely.
Good looking design, make sure you check with Gnarly before slapping the scales on that one though, he might have a special request for some of the exotic named wood no one else can pronounce . . . . . :D :D
Be safe.
