I was fortunate enough to find an Emerson Commander for sale on Gunbroker.com

I bid on and won a, '99 Commander in about 98% condition, black handles, satin 50/50 blade, serial #CN095.

The blade has been professionally sharpened(it's frigging razor sharp!) and the phillips head screws on the handle appeared to have a dull polished finish (possibly from wear).

The only thing I am concerned about is, the blade slides slightly back to the closed position, on the liner lock. What can I do?

Also, what information can anyone give me about this knife.

By the way, did I mention I bought this for $75!!

If I had a digital camera, I would take a picture. But, that would take money away from my knives!

The "CN" stands for "Chromium Nitrite".

There were 500 CN sets made in 1999. Each set included a 50/50 Commander and a 50/50 CQC7B. Both pieces in the set were serialized the same. Meaning, there is a CQC7B out there with the same serial number as your Commander.

At $75, you stole it.

John,
Thanks for the info!

It looks exactly like the one in the photo! Now, how do I go about finding the CQC7??

Do you have any suggestions on the "sliding" problem?

I had a feeling that I got a good deal. What is something like this worth? I have no plans on selling it, just wondering?

That frantic "tick, tick, ticking" you hear in the background is the sound of Usual Suspects typing www.gunbroker.com !

Sarcastic? Who, me?

Here is the last one to sell here on the forums. I sold a complete set for $250 a few months ago.

As to finding the companion piece, good luck!

Some dealers broke the sets up and sold the two knives separately.

I probably would start with the person I bought the Commander from and work backwards. Maybe someone along the line kept it and would be willing to part with it now.

I really can't tell what is wrong with your Commander from the description given. Might I suggest you give EKI a call, they should be able to get your Commander back up and waving.

John,
Thanks again for the information.

I will contact EKI. I work close by so maybe they will let me drop by.

I was also lucky enough to get the original box (in 90% condition, serial number corresponds) and paperwork. I think I will be keeping this one for awhile.
