Gib, I really like this one! Ive never seen pewter used before. Love the choice of handle materials and the inlay is tastefully done. Nice form!

Gib, elegant! I like the long lines, this is really something. The scalloped filework adds to the rustic finish, your turquoise inlay is a great touch. Thanks for sharing, good stuff!

Gib, Nice work! Again, an excellent combination of materials & design. I am intrigued by the use of pewter. I use it regularly in centrifigal rubber mold casting. I'm looking for ways to apply my use of this material to knifemaking. I've had a couple inquiries asking me to make castings for pommels. The mix I use now is 92% tin with a few percent lead. Some will only use "pure pewter" which is about 96% tin. If I can ask , What formula are using and are you casting the initial shape?

Bob, The Pewter I use is the no lead type I get it
from Rio Grande. The hilt is cast in place using
paper and tape for a mold. Gib

Gib - very interesting... I know the formula Rio Grande sells. I may give this a try with a "pure" pewter (very similar) that I can get. BTW, most any RTV silicone will also work for a one or two part mold. They can take temps up to 1000 degrees. A dusting of plain talc (baby powder) works to promote easy flow and smooth surfaces.
