What Scrimshaw is this? I just got it off knifeBay for a buck. Do you recognize it? What pattern and year?

Sc-507...1985 from the Schrade Scrimshaw of the Great American Outdoors Series, maybe?
By the way, you wouldn't happen to know how many dots are on a two dot Buck, would you? And what do these alleged dots mean..

I thought it might be for a 507SC but I really can't be sure until I see it in hand. ANd as for the year, I haven't tried matching the paper yet with my archived book of papers to see.

Sorry, I don't do Bucks. I still harbor a grudge over the theft of the LB-7 design back in 1963. :)

Awww... youse guys are no help tonight! Do I need to go ask Bernard?

OK, it says on the box top... SCHRADE CUTLERY CORP. Well now. That is definately post 73. But since the "Schrade Crimshaw" logo with a sun wasn't used until 1979, it is at least post 1978. But is it for a 507SC or 500SC?

Michael

Dig em out guys. Ignore the paper shown for now. It could be a wrong paper.

Read the knife not the auhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ----box? oh crap I forgot. I gotta go look that up. sorry.

Well yeah, we kinda have Cinderella's slipper here. Worse yet, just a picture of her slipper. But at least this time the seller didn't make up a long windy story to go with the box.

It fits a SC-507 Scrim knife that i do not have.I figure someone out there needs this.It is nice...I'll ship it cheap if you like.

So with a bottled soda pop selling for $1 here I figured it might be worth a dollar. Who knows, it may even go with a boxless knife I have. It is good practice to remember when the logos and names were used though.

Are you sure that paperwork is from a Scrimshaw knife. The two I have show only Scrims on them.Earliest is from 1980.Arnold

Nope not sure at all Arnold. The paper may be a red herring. Just another odd freebie thrown in by the seller. And yet... there is always a chance that the real matching paper is hidden underneath the tray. It wouldn't be the first time I have found the original papers for a knife stashed there.

I'd say a 507SC.The box shows it had a sheath with a stichted belt loop instead of a riveted one.Sorry about the spelling,my toolbar moved my spell ckeck and I can't find it.

G'Day all..Arnold is right..as he generally is..definately SC-507,LB7 design.A clue will be how the number is printed on the side of the box. My 1982 Stallion has SC-507 Stamped on rectangle shaped paper and pasted on..whereas later ones are Printed white on black like the top of the box.The Covered Wagon etc are also identical boxes but with different number pasted on side like the 82 Stallion. Covered Wagon has Schrade Cutlery TV-4 on both ends of the box.
Good to see Codger now has a fine upstanding Gold Member, and while you're into the debth and profundity of these esoteric queries..how do chooks know the size of my egg cups..how do mosquitoes get along without sleep ..why are wrong numbers never out when I call..and what is the probability that something will happen according to the odds?? Hoo Roo

P.S. The paper is rightly one of the two that should be in the box the other likely will show the Scrimshaws from that year.

What in the world is a Chook? And you can better believe I'm not touching your egg cups. My goodness!!!

I say...I say...pay attention son...I think...I think.. the lads' a bit dullllll.....a chook is a 'hen 'as in Hen N' Rooster knives.......and have you found another use for an egg cup I havn't thought of?....maybe yours are deeper than ours.... Hoo Roo

Hi guys, my 1984 bighorn sc507 has the white rectangular label on both ends of the cover, but underneath, the box is printed with SC 509 in larger font (it appears to be white). This is slightly visible in my first pic, if you squint your eyes, hold your tongue just right and tilt your head to the left a bit. After looking at my empty box, it looks exactly the same as yours micheal, except for the box ends. :)

I asked the seller if he recalled/knew what year and issue came in the box and he did not. I do agree with what everyone has said about the insert being correct for a 507SC. I guess I'll find out if there is a Scrim paper hidden under the insert.

Thanks for all the input guys!

Michael

Good of you to lob-in again Larry sorry to be such a Wally.:D

Chook: Chicken. Often served barbecued at fancy turns. If your hostess is befuddled and/or overcome by trying to do too many things at once, one might say she was "running around like a chook with its head cut-off!
