I picked up a couple of new ones in the last few days. The first is a "Cabela's Buck". At first glance I thought it was the same (except for the handle material) as the Ducks Unlimited model, but it's completely different from the guard to the pommel. I don't know when they were made so I have to research that. I had an original Marbles that they appear to be modeled after but gave it to a friend of mine. I'm going to borrow it back to take comparison pictures.

Dave, that's two very nice Buck knives, that I would love to have... I see them on the bay some times... What's on the end of the Cabela's box... Did the Duck one come with a sheath and box too... ITE ...

Knice nife Dave, I love the stacked leather.

Thanks Kev, stacked leather Bucks aren't that easy to find so I had to have this one.

Thanks Armand. I don't have the Cabela's in hand yet, but from what I've found here, the box says "model number 914, catalog 8011, Cabela's Replica". I'll take pictures of my own when it gets here.

The DU didn't come with the box, but it does have a sheath. It's a perfect fit even though it's stamped 191 on the back. I'm wondering if there was ever a DU 191 made or did Buck just use the sheaths because they were a perfect fit??

Thanks Armand, now I know where the sheath originated. Here's the label on the Cabela's knife.

Would anyone happen to know if the marbles that the 914 is patterned after is the marbles recommended by Kephart? I have heard Kephart's marbles referred to both as the woodsman and the woodcraft. I would like to find one of these Bucks as I've a hankering for a Kephart and this seems to fit. I haven't found much info on them but they don't seem real easy to find. Very nice knives shown in this thread. Thanks...

I've read the Woodcraft is Marble's own pattern which they brought out in 1910. They even patented it 1916. DM

Thanks David. I believe this is the pattern referenced. That is about the right time frame.

Thanks for the pic, Dave... I need to get me one like yours now... That's a nice knife... ITE ...

Those are nice Dave, the blade profile on the D.U.191 is something I've never seen before.I think it looks cool!:thumbup:
