A new pretty - Japanese karda => kogatana in shirasaya

Bigger than I expected, even knowing the dimensions.
Saya width is just at 1-in; 11-in OAL.
Blade length 7".

I got -the- one shown on the website ( www.dguertin.com ).
From what I read elsewhere,
the most traditional style is flat and unpolished on one side,
and beveled & polished on the other.
This is the same on both sides.
Still shows grind lines, not polished.

Now added to my project list

is to make a kozuka grip (& saya) for it.
These are traditionally pretty fancy to match the
fittings on the sword it rides with.
Guess I'll want to polish it too. :D

I didn't realize the kozuka were of that dimension either let alone come in a shirasaya.

Pretty sweet....loved to see the pics of the saya when you get done....
