I hate to seem cynical but.........

I just got an e-mail from a guy who says he bought one of my knives at a knife show a few years ago. He loved the knife, it served him well, it was beautiful, etc. He just lost everything in Katrina. He sees a knife on my web page similar to the one that was lost. He can't afford to replace the knife that was lost in the storm although he loved that knife dearly. Hmmmm.

Maybe the guy is legit. Has anyone else heard a similar story?

does he want a free one?

Tell him your sorry and that you'd make him another and hold it till he gets on his feet..........

Unfortunately, the almost immediate scamming that started in the aftermath of the storm makes one have to be very suspicious of anything like this.

In the world of the internet and email scams, I think cynical is a survival trait, Ray......

I think we would all like to think the best of people but when I dump 38 out of 40 e-mail messages I get in a day and 1/2 of those tell me I am a millionare, it gives one a reason to doubt. Its that one rotten apple in a barrel thing. Too bAD, HUY. Fred --Have a good turkey all day. For real! :D

What surprises me, Fred, is the huge discrepancy between the apparent poverty in Africa and the large number of rich African people attempting to share their inherited millions with me daily.

Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving, too! :)

Mike, Good point. They would be a lot more likely to succeed if the e-mail address were from say, Monaco. :D

Oh, I forgot...I've won the "UK National Lottery" 4 or 5 times already this week, too! hehe

I find it hard to belive that I won lotterys that I never signed up for, or bought a ticket for... I wonder how may people reply to thoes emails.

I saw a tv program about these scams. They said it was a huge problem, world wide. I know most of us here think, no one could be that gullible. contrare. Oh, by the way, I have a bridge for sale, cheap.
Fred

I hope all of you enjoy the day with your families. If you can't be with them I hope you eat well and are safe. Fred
