A new SOG review.

Some have said that the saw does not cut well in both directions.

Is this true?

The saw looks very similar to the very good Victorionox wood saws.

Thanks.

It is very much like the better saws........I have never had a problem at all with the saw. It cuts both directions very easily for me and many others I have heard from.

It cuts wood extremely fast for me too. It is a double cut saw actually very similar to some of the better pruning saws.

There was a tanto blade (no serrations) with a clip point blade (part serrated) but now are discontinued.

You can still find them on the internet called the Double Action Revolver.

My question stemmed from a picture on a commercial site that really looked as if the Bowie style blade was plain, and the other half of the knife was the saw.

I ended up calling the site(Oso Grande) and asking them to check what they had. They got back to me very quickly to say that the knives they had were all Combo edge.

Very good customer service.

Thanks again.

When the Revolver first came out about 4 years ago there were some pictures on the internet of a plain edge SEAL Revolver that were never made (protos) according to what I was told.

Only partial serrations on the SEAL models.

Also I don’t recommend using the saw for wood. Did I, yes, but that is not what it is intended for. However, it does work. It does not work in the same fashion a wood saw does, i.e. in a back and forth movement, but if you place it on a branch and draw the saw towards you, then lift and repeat the process, it will cut through wood just fine.

I've only had to use light pressure to start a groove and the saw works fine back and forth. Not sure, why the reviewer had such trouble.
