Yesterday was my birthday, and a Great Eastern Tidoute in bocote made its appearance. :)

Well, it seems they're getting it together. The snap is crisp, the edges some of the best I've ever seen on a slippie (convex, even) and the wood is nicely figured.

The only drawback so far is that there are a few little flat spots in the spey blade, but they're so small as to not effect cutting power.

I think I've a new favorite slip.

I'm still on the fence on Great Easterns, love that classic jumbo trapper and want to order one, nice to here better reports on them.

Hey Sword and Shield...my b-day was yesterday too! Ordered me an Eye Brand Mini Trapper.

Ive been looking at Great Eastern too...Didn't know they were convex ground...intriguing...

Thanks for the mini-review!

I've got two at this time with one more in the mail and another one in stag reserved. I will have a total of 2 each of the 4 1/2" & 3 3/4", in hindsight I find myself being drawn to the smaller scout models.

Very attractive and usable with the 1095 blades. I also like the impressive edge given these knives making it an EDC right out of the package if desired..
