Going to take the plunge and finally pick up a 301. I am traditionally a single blade lockback fan, but with the upcoming forum knife I thought I might carry one a bit and see how I like it.

I’m used to my old 303 which gets the rare occasional carry day, but with the 301 coming in larger, I’ll be interested to see how well it carries in my front pocket of my jeans.

I like the idea of the forum knife, so I figured this to be a less expensive way to determine if I’ll like/carry it. Should touch down on Wednesday after work, fingers crossed.

Your thoughts on the 301?

I believe it’s going to end up being a 2 blade, but the size of the frame (I assume) will be the same

I'll have to wait and see what they're going to produce the polling ended last Tues...
No, it's not. It's still alive and well. Waiting on Buck to get prices and information to Stephen at SKBlades to finish the bolsters and if there will be a box and/or slip. There will be more polls:eek: When it is decided what the final form the knife will take SKBlades will have way for us to order through the forum and his web site. Preston

The “final” (for now) poll is out. Shows pricing, depending on the final options chosen. I believe it has to do with wether or not you want grooved bolsters, wether or not you want a leather slip, and wether or not you want a pine box instead of the ordinary Buck box.

This will indeed be a 2 bladed knife. Clip and sheepsfoot, opposite ends, CPM154 with FFG and long pull on both blades.

I’m still curious to see how the 301 stacks up in my opinion. C’mon mailman! It originated from only two hours away, hopefully it will be fast shipping. :);)

I’m curious how well it’ll sell since it seems it’ll be much like the BCCI 301 from a few years back, using BG-42 blade steal. Those didn’t sell very quickly from what I’ve been told.

Although my “user” one that David’s wife embellished for me, I really like. So I may end up with one of these....not sure yet. But I am following along to see what happens.

I think the BCCI 301 from a few years back would have sold much better if it had a larger audience. As I recall, it was only made available to BCCI members through the newsletter and then, of course, to those who subsequently purchased it at inflated prices from the auction site. Also, the current BF knife will apparently be sold at SK's production price from Buck, whereas the BCCI knife price sold above the factory production price as a money maker for the club.

A 301 is in my pocket every day. :D
I prefer the size of the 301 over the 303/373. It just feels better in my hand.
I carry it loose in my RF pocket, and don't notice it. I find myself patting my pocket a couple times a day to make sure it is still there.
I like the "light pulls" of the 301. My other stockmans are the Buck 371, 373, a Böker Plus (same size as the 301/371) and a couple large (4.25" closed) Rough Riders.
My 301 has a pull of roughly 4.5 on all three blades. The 371's and 373 are just a little stiffer, maybe a 5 ~ 5.5 to 6 on the clip and sheepsfoot, and a 6.5 or so on the spey.
The Böker and Rough Riders are around a 6 to 6.5 on all three blades.
I carry the 301 most because of the lighter pulls, and all three blades have good walk 'n talk. :)

I'm a big fan of the 302 Solitaire. It's a single blade 301. Same frame. And I can't wait for the forum knife! Two blades will be awesome. I never say this, I may buy two!

Here are my lovely babies

Excited to get it. I have single blade knives, and single blade lockbacks in this size. Nothing with multi blade. I appreciate the good reviews.

The “pat my pocket” was reassuring as it is something I do regularly as well. Glad it disappears enough in the pocket to be that sleek, hopefully it does in mine as well. I wear jeans and boots every day, so it should be interesting.

I may have tried a BCCI 301 at original pricing, if I ended up liking the frame size. Although, after months and months of waiting, paying membership dues, and contacting anyone I can from the site.. still no membership number.

That is very disappointing to hear.

Indeed it is. I was told to be patient, so I am being patient. I do not understand the hold up, but I’m sure it will get worked out at some point.
