A new (to me) method for cordage

I stumbled upon this video tonight and I have to admit I have never seen cordage made this way. It seems like it would be easy enough to do even if it is a little more work than ways.
I also looked at a few of this guys other videos and he seems to be fairly knowledgeable in what he does. Have any of you guys heard of him before?
