Just bought a new waterstone a 1000# and 6000# by King and one of those adjustable rubber bases.
I sharpened a 440a SOG on it. The problem with 440a is you spend all this time getting a nice edge longer than other steels then it loses it faster. I also used a norton india stone (coarse) first. Then I went to the waterstone.
I don't mind sharpening a steel that is harder but when it loses the edge fast, it sucks. AUS8 for instance loses an edge fast but it only takes a few passes to get it right back.
