A newbe report on my Wayne Goddard Spyderco

About two months ago I asked this board for opinions on the above-mentioned knife to be rough-used when I go farming-ranching. I just returned from 3 weeks as a farmer/rancher and have some observations: The biggest surprise was how comfortable this large knife is to carry using the pocket clip. Unless I stuck my hand in that pocket, I never felt the knife, ever. I was concerned about how it would stay put while I was on a horse but - no problem. I used the knife every day (sometimes a lot) and grew to appreciate the 40% serrated blade (my first) for some applications. I had a bunch of twine-tied nylon grass seed sacks that I used the knife on. This is usually a tough job for a knife because the twine is hard to get at (embedded in the nylon). The serrations on the Spyderco almost exploded the twine at a slight touch - I was pleased. The serrations were also "the ticket" for cutting rubber hose and branches. I resharpened the straight edge quickly with a tiny crock stick gizmo, the serrations will be another story when they get dull. Anyway, thanks for advising me to buy the Spyderco. I like it! Except for branding (castrating) I'm retiring my Stockman's patterns.

Hey! I remember you. Glad to see the knife worked out for you. The Goddard folder (I have the Micarta large) is great. Too bad Spyderco dropped it. Maybe they'll bring it back some day.

I also have the micarta large one.I think its a very underrated knife. Its comfortable, light weight, strong enough for everyday tasks and a good enough steel(G2?)I've had mine for 3 or 4 yrs.
