A newbie question?

Greetings. As stated, a newbie to Busse (and kin). And a couple of questions. 1) Is RMD an abbrev. for Ratmandu? 2) Why do some Swamp Rat knives sell for more on eBay than you can purchase them new from the SW site? I realize that certain Custom Shop items can command a higher value, but I sometimes see standard knives selling for a high price on eBay. Perhaps unwise bidders? And one more...G10? Does the G10 stand for anything in particular?

As most of you Busse veterans realize, it takes awhile to learn of the many models made available over the years. I'm learning!

Thanks in advance for your answers. Cheers.

1. Yes
2. Occasionally there is a "wait time" when buying direct. In today's era, people are "instant gratification" personalities. Or it may be a discontinued model that is just displayed on the CS website. Or as you stated.....uniformed.
3. No clue. But I'm going search for the answer.

Thanks Gravelface! Same in the gun world. Folks paying higher prices on gunbroker.com than they can get through other online sources. Any relation to Old Jube? Cheers.

People are usually selling the Ratmandu's on eBay for $200+ because a) it includes a sheath (besides the tactical cardboard) or b) they figure someone won't know they are still available cheaper direct from Swamp Rat.

Welcome to the forums. Hang around, ask questions when you have them, and pretty soon you will be the veteran answering questions for the next new guy.

Thanks for the advice, Garth. I have aquired much knowledge in the past two months. Have recently purchased two RMD's (along with a BK2, and a Gerber LMF), and now looking for a slightly used NMSFNO, or a Steel Heart. Cheers.

G10 is a trade term for a certain kind of composite material, made from fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. Also known as G11, FR4, FR5.

Oh, what I know now, compared to this post date! Six months, and eleven - I think! - Bussekins later. And I believe I can decipher, pretty much every Busse name abbreviation. What a fun, but also sometimes frustrating - journey. Frustrating in knowing enough now to know the knives I want, but then waiting for someone to offer one on the Exchange at a reasonable price. Still looking for a user NMSFNO, with Kydex for around $400...Cheers.
