I've been grinding on my own for about a year or so now, after watching and learning from a long time pro. I had recently posted some of my first attempts.

Just finished up a couple more. I had been having trouble with making my plung lines a little too sharp, or abrupt, but I feel I am progressing now in getting a nice radius at this point.

These are both out of 01. Nickle Silver Bolsters. Walnut Burl on the gut hook, and the other is white tail antlers cut out of some sheds I have.

Those look great! What did you do differently to get a better radius on your plunges? It is something I wrestle with too so I am curious how you managed to improve that part of your process.

Leading my belt of the edge of the contact wheel when starting the grind on my hollows. Guess I'm leading it about 1/8 to 3/16" off each side of the contact wheel when grinding has made a huge difference.
