A nice day hike with my Satin Jack

It's on the Switzerland Trail looking (I think) south. It's not Longs, but not sure which one. Now I'll have to get a bigger map and take a look.

Pretty country. Thanks for sharing. You can send me that old school SJ whenever you tire of it. :D

Nice pix! Thanks for posting them. Very cool shots :D:thumbup::thumbup: ...And nice KNIFE!!! :D

nice pics. Any time you are up for a hike, pm me if you want a hiking buddy. I love to get out in the hills...especially cub creek and abyss trail.

Thanks, will do! I don't get out nearly as much as I'd like to with little ones to take care of, but I'll keep it in mind!

Thanks for the nice comments everyone! You know, those old SJ's are great for hiking. You never even notice that they are there, but they are quite strong and good cutters! They make passable choppers for light stuff (fine for a day hike), with a 2 or 3 finger grip.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I really thinned the edge out. I thinned it out a little too much, it impacts slightly when I get too energetic... For most chopping, I don't have any damage or problems, but a year or so ago I put a bunch of knives to the test and chopped up some 3/4 inch plywood, and this knife got some minor inclusions, so I put a micro bevel on it, and no more damage, but still cuts and chops great. It popped off the branches for 2 hiking sticks no problem, any where up to 3/4 of an inch of dead hard wood. Here's a better view of the edge:

Takes about 30 seconds to sharpen, I love it!
