Well I finally managed to get out on a hike today. Its been far too long. Between my day job, leatherworking, etc, its been tough to find the time. I headed out to Lake Rebecca Park near Rockford MN. I got some miles in, and did some tree ID'ing. I just stuck with ID'ing the coniferous trees today, which in this area are few and far between. I found Jack Pine, Eastern White Pine, and Eastern White Cedar.

There were plenty of Geese in the area.

Searched for fatwood in this area, didnt find much.

Thought this was kind of odd, a dead fish in the middle of the forest. This spot was about 200 yards from the lake, and about 100 feet above it. I'd have to believe a bird dropped it.

Plenty of racoon tracks in the low marshy areas. Lots of whitetail tracks as well.

I took a break and made a fire. Gave me a chance to test out the BK2 MPSS sheath prototype. It worked well, but I think I am going to relocate the firesteel loop.

Thanks for looking!

God, everyone's Sunday hike photos are awesome. Am I the only person here who lives in the middle of a city?

Great pics man !!! but whats that thing stuck in the tree with a stick hanging off it?? :D

Yeah I also think it was a bird as for some reason they tend to start at the eyes and work their way down... must have been fairly fresh as the opportunistic frenzy hadn't started.....

sweet pics, man. awesome views too.

excuses, excuses :D harriman state park is only an hour north of nyc - cross the tappan zee and the trails we frequent are only 20 min away from there. if you hiked a different trail every weekend it'll take you 5 yrs to hike them all.

Looks like a good time Goose. I hope to get out soon myself. If, that is, it would ever stop raining.

Looks like a great day Goose, nice toys a little refreshment and a woods walk. Can't beat it.
