Over this Fourth of July Holiday, my wife and I went North to visit family. While there, we visited the cemetary that my parents and Uncle are buried. My wife being the thoughtful soul that she is, wanted to plant some Perannuals around their headstones. Now my Dad and Uncle were both WW-II Veterans; Army Air Corps and Navy respectively.
When we went to remove the plants from their containers, they were totally root bound. The brand new, never used Jess Horn was in my pocket and I thought this a very fitting occasion to to break it in. It went thru the rubbery containers like a hot knife in butter. The root ball needed to have the bottom 1/4" removed to free the root ends. Again, knife through butter.
I know my Dad, Uncle and a million other of their comrades from that war were lookin' down and smiling on that one.
