A note from Codger's wife "just wanted to let ya know that things are great with his mom. They told us lastnight that she might get to come home today. He stayed up there with her and his brother. I will keep ya informed as to how things are going untill he gets back.. "

Sounds like things are going well. We should probably expect him back here shortly.

I just got home from Arkansas, and things went better than expected. How they can take out the corotid (sp) artery from the neck of a 78 year old woman, clean it out and flush it, reinsert and attach it, and send her home the next day is beyond this farmboy's understanding. But I took her home yeasterday, and today she was out in the yard inspecting the results of the work done by the yard crew my brother and I hired to trim the trees, rake the leaves, and clean out the flower beds. She wanted to supervise her sons repairing her garage door opener, but finally agreed to stay in the house. Amazing progress, I think. Brother will take her back to Houston with him Sunday for some R&R at his spread in Kingwood, and personal nursing by his wife, the RN. Again, thanks for your thoughts and warm wishes.

Glad you're back home and that your mother is on the road to recovery. that carotid artery surgery is really amazing. I had it a couple of years ago. High noon in the operating room and on my way home the next morning.

Also glad you are back home. It just hasn't been the same around here without your posts. You and your family have been in my prayers and HE indeed does answer them! Welcome back.

She tells me that getting old is not for sissies. A few years back, she fell and fractured a vertabrae. Osteoporosis. And now both corated arteries clogged. We got one of the arteries opened up... and when she is recovered, I take her for cataract surgery.

She grew up on a farm during the depression, fed and watered granpa's mules, lived through WWII waiting for Dad to come home, adopted and raised two boys while working at the cotton gin at night, and as a school secretary during the day. She made it through seeing her boys off to 'Nam and back, and helped me raise my four year old daughter for four years when the wifey decided to jump the fence. Yep. She's tough alright. Thanks for the concern and prayers for her recovery. That reminds me.... I need to call her again tonight.
