About a month ago I was out lookin' fer knives out in the garage and found a leather sewing awl I believe my Mom gave me years ago. Well I had purchased a Case Seahorse Whittler for my best brutha Ty for Christmas and thought I might make a little slip sheath for it so it wouldn't get all scratched up riding in his pocket. My first attempt was made of some boot tongue leather and Turned out o.k i thought, but then I decided I wanted to stamp "TY" on it with some brass letter punches I had. I ended up messing the little sheath but good. I decided I should get some quality leather and give it another shot. I found a source in Medford callled Ravenswood Leather (some really nice folks there with gorgeous leather goods) and went home to get to work on it.
Well now I am hooked! I built my Mom one for the lil' Case peanut I got her for Christmas, made a few Leather pouches, an Altoids belt sheath and a belt sheath for a friends Leatherman as a going away gift. I'm thinking about making a nice bag to put on the TW's small rack.
I hope that these phone pics aren't too terrible, I will take some in better lighting and add to this post as more works are completed.
Please feel free to post you own novice Leatherworks here as well!
Happy New Year!
