Out of all the knives I own it is the blades that come with great sheaths that I wear everyday. The blades I take out of town on the Harley or in the big truck or to the woods or can be worn horizontal or straight up.
I see some knives I would like, a custom job but I guess they feel they need $ 400 and then its up to me to get a sheath. I like a 4 or 5 inch knife turned so the sheeple dont freek when Im in Target or the Mall. Does anybody else wish that there favorite knife didnt hang half way down there leg to there knee? And kudos to ESEE for the decient sheaths but why ditch the Molly accessories.

I totally agree this is really important, and understated. the knife will spend most of its time in the sheath, so it needs to be comfortable

I'm not sure what part of the world you live in, but here in Maryland you better be hunting, hiking, or on your way to do either if you have a fixed blade on your belt. I don't carry one that often because of the sheeple and the stringent laws.

That being said, I would never let the lack of a sheath deter me from buying a really good fixed blade or a larger fixed blade. There are some great sheath makers out there and on this forum, from kydex to leather. The only problem is they might need the knife from you to make the sheath.

I don't carry a fixed blade with a blade longer than 4". I would love to add a Busse BattleMistress to my collection, but it would be for no more than fooling around on my property.

I live in Ky and knife laws are you can carry any hunting knife open carry or gun for that matter as long as it's visible, I do also have a state concealed carry licence
So I could walk around with a Junglas under my shirt if I wanted. It's tuff up north, I moved away from the oppression that is new york 25 yrs ago.

Since I don't find the need to carry a knife that hangs halfway down my leg to my knee when I go to Target or the Mall...I don't find that's a problem.

I find that a Vic Tinker is enough to make it through any survival situation I encounter at Target! And if I need anything bigger...I'll just walk over to the hardware or sporting goods department.

While I believe its your right to carry however you want. I havn't had a need to carry that size knife with me where ever I go. However I don't go anywhere without a pocket knife. When I'm in circumstances I need a large knife there's always one in the truck along with a machete, and with at least a pistol and often rifles. If I'm hunting or fishing I always carry a knife bag with several knives and sharpening tools.

Not saying you are by any means or even stereotyping, but my experience is that most who carry a large knife around town are typically showing off.
