HI folks
I have the latest version of the Sharpmaker and have a question. I have noticed that both the white and grey rods seem to move in the 30 degree holes of the SM. Does this mean that I have to much pressure on the rods as I am sharpening the knife? Maybe I am going to heavy on the rods as I am sharpening. I am not sure about this and would sure like some help or suggestions. I love the SM and have only been collecting and sharpening now for a couple of years so still lots to learn.
Any suggestions or help would sure be appreciated.
Regards
Tar :)

I have noticed the same thing happens to me. I've narrowed it down to happening when I am not flat against the stone, have the knife riding the edge instead of the whole surface. I just have to remind myself to slow down and it usually doesn't happen as much. Hope this helps you.

Thanks Cryoguy
I think that I also was putting too much pressure onto the rods and now have noticed that if I take my time and not so much pressure it seems to be OK
That leads me to another quick question. How much pressure should be put on the rods when sharpening the knife?
Thanks for any help

I start out with why I would call a firm pressure. Not really digging in but somewhat aggressive. Then as I get closer to finishing I tend to reply lighten the strokes so that there isn't but the weight of the knife on the stone
