Hi Fellas:

Here's a pair of special order Loveless style capers I completed for two customers - the bird's eye maple/black liner knife has a 3 1/4" hollow ground blade while the stabilized spalted maple/red liner knife has a 3 1/2" blade per the customer's request. Both are made out of hand rubbed, satin finished CPM 154CM, HT to Rc59-61 with 416SS furniture. The horizontal ride leather sheaths complete a very nice package that is convenient to carry also as an EDC.

Best regards,

TK

Those are very nice looking! Can I make a couple suggestions?

On your sheaths, I would either step down in drill bit size for your stitching holes, or step up in thread size. The holes are just a tad too big in comparison to the thread.

Also, to remove that lightly torn look in each hole after you drill, take a tapered round awl blade and chuck it into your drill press and hit each hole...it will burnish those torn fibers back into the edges of the holes and make for a cleaner appearance.

Great comments!! Now why didn't I thing of that?? I'm going to incorporate your suggestions - thanks!!

Learn by doing is my motto :) What I do on normal pouch sheaths where there isn't a huge amount of thickness is take that same tapered round awl and put it into my dremel. Then, I punch through the leather, burnishing the holes at the same time. I had to grind down my awl however, it had too much of a taper and worked the holes a bit too big when making it through the leather.
