A pair of Brut De Forge-with sea cow ribbone.

Both blades are forged from W2 steel. The handles are sea cow rib bone with copper and G10 spacers. The ricassos were forged using an A/O torch in combination with a small hand held hammer. 10 1/2 inches oal.

My definition of Brut-de-forge is something a little more
primitive/un-finished looking, however very nice no
matter what they're called.
 
Kevin... I think a lot of people have that impression.. but if you look at Keeslar's definition... he talks alot about the 'paradox' of polished versus rough....A 'Diamond in the Rough'. Some people associate it more with is flaired/forged finger guards.... but I think what makes his stuff special is his mirror polished, engraved spines rolling over onto forge scale and rasp marks transitioning into sculpted guards and wire inlayed handles. Anyway... not that anybody is right or wrong... but that is the way I like to look at it.
 
^^Scott, one of the things that I find so interesting and even alluring about custom
knives as opposed to other collectibles is the abundance of non-absolute definitions.
Even the most obvious, such as "what's the definition of a custom knife"?

By the way, I really like your website, very well done.

sure... I'm trying to recall if he 'coined' the term in one of his travel's to France.. or if he just adopted it from the French.

Anyway.. cool knives Fred. I'd love to get some of that sea cow for a bowie I'm conjuring...
