These two feature my own handmade "Felt Camo My-Carta" scale material! The scales are grippy, ultralight and super tough.

These are made for camping but will work for just about anything. They are big yet very fast in the hand with great balance. The 3/16" O1 steel is very tough but not too heavy, these are slim overall and easy to pack or carry. These will work in the camp kitchen just as well as they will in the woods!

I took both knives to a high finish before the acidwash for the best of looks, corrosion resistance and durability.

Materials Used

3/16" O1 Tool Steel
Felt Camo My-Carta
Stainless Tube Rivets
G-Flex Epoxy

Details

Stonewashed Finish
Chisel Grind - Double Polished Edge
60-61 RC for great edge holding

Both come with Kydex! The sheaths are teklok compatible, I have tek-loks available at my cost of $10. The sheaths feature removable hardware for versatility and ease of cleaning.

Handmade in the USA - Sole Authorship

Out standing as always!!!! If I did not have 2 already that large one is still tempting me!

Thanks! It is a lot like the two you have but about half as thick... and it is thick!

Looking great!! I love that blade finishing!!

Much appreciated! The Acidwash is the same finish I'm using on the folders. I manually stonewashed these by the way, shook them in a pvc pipe!

What medium are you using?
I was shaking a folder blade for over an hour and it didn't get anywhere close to your finish! Obviously it wasn't acid washed or polished before stonewash, but still.

I love the way they have turned out! Hope someone will grab them before I get paid next time...

I love that 11.5" one.

The handles look great also.

Thanks! I was excited to use more of my felt my-carta, there are only one or two other knives out there with this handle material. Out of the different laminates I have made I really like the felt and want to use more.

I use ceramic media, cylinder shape. Green Pyramids work well too. For the acid part I use Ferric Chloride diluted with water.

here's the exact material so you know what to look for, scroll about halfways down ----> https://www.monsterslayer.com/Pages/Lapidary/Lapidary.aspx Ceramic "media - Fine"

If you have any scratches when you acid etch or tumble they will get bigger and stand out more.

I fill my 3" PVC tube about 1/3-2/3 full of media, spray in some windex to just dampen it as that helps the media stay clean and cut, insert knives and shake.

You can set the pipe on a flat surface and just roll it back and forth quickly. A quick back and forth movement is better than a lot of wild shaking. These only took about 15 minutes, that is the standard tumble time for a stonewash in my shop. (machine or by hand)

Throw on some Salsa music and pretend you are the guy on the shaker! That is the action you want...

Will need to get some Salsa then :D

Last time I used a mix of ceramic triangular & cylindrical and natural stones I picked on the beach. A nearly polished (460 grit, but I was just sanding to smooth it out, not to polish) small blade turned out good, even without etching. I guess the factory 'satin' finish is too far from polished to take a good stonewashed look.

Your setup sounds good, as long as your media was clean you should have been good to go. I have had good luck with the triangles too. Sometimes a factory finish looks great but may be at too low of a grit for a stonewash... a stonewash will bring back the "base" finish if it was rougher.
