Well, Folks, I'm off to the ABS school for a week, to take John Perry's slipjoint class. I'll miss you guys, so thought I'd leave ya with a couple orders just finished.

Here's a little thorn from the Devil's Garden,

And here's The Golden Boy

Nickel-silver file-work.

Hope ya like 'em,

John

Two stunners John! Beautiful damascus patterns in both those pieces. I think the silicon bronze fittings very nicely compliment the warm tones of the ivory in the second piece. The blackwood handle on the first piece gives it a very serious countenance indeed. Congrats to the new owner(s).

Oooooh... That golden boy is mighty pretty!
The other one is very nice also!

Kind regards,

Jos

Keith,

S.A. Black Ivory is a different wood than A. Blackwood. Its much denser and so hard it "clacks" like a domino if you tap two pieces together. Has brown streaks and will take a high polish if desired. You can tell a difference by eye in person, tho not in the photo. Just another choice, not better or worse.

The owner has several knives from me with this material.

John- As always, these are SUPERB!!!

While they're both fantastic, the first one REALLY does it for me. Something about the whicked steel pattern and color/material combination... SO FREAKING NICE!!!

I LOVE the guards you've been doing. Most difficult AND gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing John! I am excited to see what you come up with after taking John's class!! :D

Kieth,
The only place I've found the Black Ivory is at Blade, at the Giraffe Bone .com people. It comes in thin pieces, 5/8x2x5. I checked the web site just now, and its listed,in a round,
but "sold".

John

Both are exceptional, but my favorite is the silicon bronze and ivory.
I too like the direction you have been going with this style guard.

John,
Beutiful knives! That bronze guard is just dreamy........:D

Beautiful work John. Your guards are great.

I cant wait to see what you apply from this class. John Perry's a good teacher. I still call him from time to time on his cell for pointers and questions. Have fun. Lin
